In honor of TTGP's wonderful announcement today (congratulations again!), I thought I would introduce myself. Jenny has been a huge source of inspiration and encouragement for me, so it's fitting for me to share my story after hearing her exciting news today... We went through some standard fertility treatments during the last year - 3 rounds of Clomid, 2 IUI's with Femara, and 2 IUI's with Femara and Gonal F. My doctor diagnosed me with "mild PCOS" and put me on Metformin. The only other problem we knew about was borderline low morphology on my husband's side. Over time, I started to doubt the PCOS diagnosis, especially after realizing that I didn't have a single symptom or test result consistent with PCOS. We just didn't feel like we could commit to doing IVF locally when we hadn't really gotten a diagnosis that made sense, and we didn't feel like our cycle would be tailored to our specific situation. After learning about CCRM, it seemed like the right place for us to go to try to figure out what was really going on. So earlier this month, we travelled to CCRM for our 1-day work-up with Dr. M. It was really informative and also very overwhelming. They discovered several problems that had never been mentioned at our local clinic. My antral follicle count was 11, and my AMH was 1.2 (I'm 32). My FSH Hwas 9. They also found a slight problem with my husband's DNA fragmentation. Dr. M recommended a fairly aggressive protocol for us given that my ovaries are somewhat inactive for my age. So our plan is to do IVF#1 at CCRM in October with what she called Lupron 40 and the PICSI procedure to counter the DNA fragmentation issue.
I have learned a lot from all of you, and you have inspired me to move forward with our journey even when it has been overwhelming and intimidating. If anyone has experience with the protocol we're using or with PICSI, I would love any information or advice you have. I know I will need a lot of support over the coming months, and I hope to be there to provide support as well.
Re: Introduction from KC
Welcome and good luck!
I hope you follow in Jenny's footsteps very soon!
Welcome! I have some of the same issues as you (AMA 0.9, FHS 10, and AFC anywhere from 6-9) plus endo but did manage to get pregnant with IVF#1. It ended in miscarriage but gave me the hope that I can at least produce decent quality eggs and get pregnant.
Hopefully CCRM will do the trick for you!
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!

Thank you for the welcome!
I realized that I forgot an important part of my story, although maybe it's self-explanatory. Dr. M said that there is no way I have PCOS and took me off the Metformin. I'm still struggling to figure out where my original doctor came up with that diagnosis but overall feel reassured that we now have an accurate diagnosis and a plan...
