Really? You spell it that way?

A co-worker of mine (who I really do like), just posted something about her son on facebook. I always thought I liked his name until I saw how she spelled it...Zaccheri (nn Zacc). Why, oh why, couldn't you have just gone with Zachary? That poor boy will be spelling his name out to everyone for the rest of his life

Re: Really? You spell it that way?

  • I don't like that spelling at all!

  • Makes me think of zucchini.?
  • that is horrible!

  • The way she spelled his name reminds me of zucchini for some reason. Tongue Tied That poor kid, it seems even worse because it's a boy name. I guess I am used to seeing girls names more screwed up spelling wise.
  • It looks like Zac cherry to me

I'm usually all for different names (or spellings of a name), but that one is just a little too much.

  • this is how i pronounced it when i first read this: "zac SHERRY".

  • I don't like that spelling either but I will say I went to school with 5 people of the same name (three were in my class, 2 in the class above me) in a school of less than 400 people. We all spelled our names the same too. It was annoying. I wish my mom had spelled my name differntly. Even though mine is the most common people still ask how to spell it!

    LMAO!

  • Sorry for everyone that likes "different" spellings but I hate just about every one of them. Spell the name traditionally. A different spelling won't make them any different if they have two other kids with the same name in the class because it all sounds the same. It will just be a pain in the ass for them and the teachers.

  • Poor kid! I hate the spelling, too. It looks really feminine.

  • I am not against a little variation in spelling names ie. Meghan, Megan, Marc, Mark, but Zaccheri?  C'mon...
  • I don't think it is horrible just something I would not pick. Maybe she has a reason for that spelling, then again maybe not.

    Exactly what I thought.

  • I am not a fan of funky spellings or vowels in weird places. But that's just me!

Maybe to be trendy, I should think of a way to spice up Jack Henry (our frontrunner)... Jaak Hehnri?
