follistim dosing?

can anyone tell me how they judge your follistim dose on your first cycle of injectibles? I respond and produce 1-2 follies on both 50 mg clomid and 5 mg femara (my lining isn't great though, on either drug).

I will probably go to injectibles the next cycle - the doc ordered one 900 pen - is this enough?

i get 1200 per cycle, but don't use it all. i stim between 11 and 14 days at dosages around 100. but i'm a long, slow, & steady kind of stimmer. some ladies use higher dosages for less amount of time.

I used a total of 1500 over 10 days for this last IVF cycle. I would think 75 IU / day follistim for an injects/IUI cycle would be adequate.

thanks! I don't know anything about how long I will stim (how much over how many days)....i do worry about overstimming - I don't want more than 3 mature follicles for a TI or IUI cycle....

does how you respond to clomid or femara give the doc any idea of your response to injectibles?

My first cycle I was on 150, and I stimmed for 6 days, very quickly, producing between 3 and 4 mature eggs. BFN

This cycle I amon 125 and am on my 7 day today of stimming. Nurse thinks I'll probably go for an IUI on Saturday. So 900 is enough for me for a cycle, typically.

I did a combo of Femara + Gonal-f, but I just wanted to say that my RE started me off EXTREMELY conservatively. I took 5 mg femara daily on CD 3-7, then 37 1/2 iu of Gonal-f daily on CD 9-12. The first cycle I did this combo I had 2, maybe 3 mature follies, and on the second cycle I had 3 with a 4th on the bubble of maturity. It was a good thing we didn't start off higher! FWIW, it took me until 150 mg of Clomid to ovulate and I never ovulated on Femara on its' own. My RE didn't think that my response (or lack thereof) on Clomid and Femara was any indicator of how I would do with injectibles, and boy was she right! Good luck with your next cycle!

This last cycle I did 9 days of 75ius and produced one follie.

It is very rare that I produce more than one.

I posted something similiar earlier, but will post again. :-)

First cycle on Follistim was a BFN. 112.5 iu's for 7 days. The doctor prescribed three 300 iu cartridges. I had 4 follicles at 18 mm by day 10 of my cycle, but E2 levels showed that maybe 2 of them might be good eggs. I had an odd response to the meds and it caused a short luteal phase (or that's what my dipshitofadoctor says).

This cycle (#2 on Follistim) is still in progress. Doc increased my follistim from 112.5 to 225 and prescribed 600 iu cartridges this time. I will do this for 9 days. Today I went in for my Day 5 of stimming checkup and I had 5 follicles (3 on the right, 2 on the left) and all are 10 mm. Plan is to go back on Sunday when the expectation is that they'll be about 18mm and I can trigger that night.
