DD loves to be swaddled!  I finally broke down and bought two Swaddle Mes and they are great!  Anyone else with an LO who is swaddled so much of the day??

  • DS was! We swaddled for all naps, sleeping, and soothing. He was pretty much only unswaddled to eat at first, lol.

  • DS #1 absolutely loved to be swaddled... actually until he was 6 months. I tried to wean him before that, but he just wouldn't have anything to do with it. He was swaddled a lot, not 20 hours per day, but a lot.
  • DS is only swaddled at night...I'm no doctor, but my thoughts are that swaddling for 20 hours can't be good developmentally.
  • We still swaddle DD for every nap and every night. She wakes herself up with her hands if she isn't swaddled, even during her shorter naps.

Now that she's awake most of the day, she spends less time swaddled. But when she was the same age as your DD, yes, she would spend the majority of the day swaddled. We only took her out to feed, change diapers and play for a little bit.

I agree.  It might be a good idea to break them free for a few more hours to get those arms and legs moving.
  • She is always swaddled for bed time and naps in her crib, she loves it too. 20 hours is a lot!
  • She had her days and nights all screwed up so we stopped swaddling during the day. Now she only gets swaddled for bedtime.
  • I have no idea if there's anything behind this, but just as an FYI, on the Miracle Blanket packaging it says to not swaddle for more than 10 hours in a 24 hour period.  Honestly, our time swaddled adds up to more than that with naps, but I'm going to try and wean him off it a bit.  I've heard it can be a hip (orthopedic) concern over time.
  • Hmm now I'm a bit concerned!  She does sleep most of the day still though.  I will try to get her out of it a bit more but she fusses a lot whenever shes not swaddled :(  I always let her lay on the ground when she is alert and unwrap her so she can kick her legs and move her arms around.  I'll have to work on unswaddling her a bit more I guess!  Thanks for the advice ladies!
