I was just wondering if anyone had decided to try IVF without removing your tubes? Or if anyone opted for surgery to open them? My RE basically stated we should have the tubes removed and have IVF and didn't think keeping my tubes or surgery to open them would be an option. I'm just trying to weigh the benefits risks and what's our best route to go. I would appreciate any info:)
Re: ? for those with hydrosalpinx
My tubes were severely damaged from scar tissue, so my RE was originally going to remove them. He would have tried to repair them if he saw that as an option, unfortunately they were too far gone. He ended up leaving them in, just burning them off from my uterus to keep the fluid from leaking in.
I'm happy to still have them even though they don't work and serve no purpose. I was having such a hard time getting past the whole idea that having them removed was something that people who didn't want kids did. The first few months after the surgery were very hard. Even though they tell you there's no way you'll ever get pg on your own, you still have that little voice that wonders if you'll be that one in a million. When the tubes are gone or clipped off, you'll never have that one in a million chance ever again.

My RE told me he wouldn't do IVF until I had them either tied or removed. I opted to have them removed. The surgery was not bad but the recovery was a lot more painful than I anticipated. I felt like I had gotten kicked in the stomach for several days.
