Checking progesterone levels after ET?

I just realized that a lot of you gals have posted about your progesterone levels following ET and beta.  I had my first beta today, but they didn't test my progesterone.  I'm taking PIO.  The nurse didn't mention anything about it.

Is that normal?  Did anyone else NOT have progesterone checked along with their betas?

  • They probably checked it but didn't bother you with the details because it is fine.

Hmmm- I don't think so because I read the lab req beforehand and it only said to check HCG quant.

I'm not too worried about it though, since everything seems great so far! Just wondering why they wouldn't check.

  • I don't get mine checked either.

I even asked about it since I see so many others having theirs checked. The nurse said there is no need to check it at this point (after PIO) as it doesn't tell them anything.  I don't really understand that so I'll probably ask my RE about it next week.

  • I think the PIO cause the levels to be high enough in almost everyone that sometimes they don't check it.  My RE checks mine and I am on crinone vaginally and it was a little low the last time.  When I asked about it they said not to worry because studies show that it was almost 100 times higher in the uterus than in the blood when usually vaginally routes for the meds.  My thought was ...well then why bother to check it at all if you aren't worried about low levels.
