Tell me about balanced chromosome translocations!!

DH's genetic report came back and he has a balanced chromosome translocation.  We were told to go see a genetic counselor and are in the process of doing so.  IVF with PGD testing was mentioned by our RE along with taking the chance of trying on our own.

 Anyone here encounter this chromosome thing?  I just want to here anything anyone can offer.

    Sadly I have a balanced translocation and our road has been nothing but rocky.
