cliff notes: went in for our 35-36 week growth u/s and first internal. audrey was measuring small enough that the dr. sent us for a special ultrasound. results of the special ultrasound were that she is in the 20th percentile, so pretty tiny. now i have to go in for 4 NSTs, starting this afternoon and an additional ultrasound.
of course i am worried, but i really just want more information as to what they're looking out for. they estimated she was about 5lbs, and both DH and i were little babeis, so we're hoping that's it. she's also dropped already, which could influence why my actual stomach wasn't measuring bigger. who knows.
Re: hmm, not so great appt this morning
I am sure she is alright! Not all babies are 8lbs when they are born.
Depending on the outcome of the NST are they talking about inducing or anything?
they are probabbly just checking to make sure she's alright. you are very right, not everyone has large babies.
all of my sisters and i were between 6lbs and 5oz and my niece was born at 5lbs 3oz, perfectly healthy. we're just all petite people.
i'm sure your lo is just fine

Yep, I agree with this. Keep us updated!
they haven't said anything about inducing at this point. it's probably still too early for the doctor to really worry about it. i know it's just precautionary, so hopefully the test today goes well.
I honestly wouldn't think that the 20th percentile is that bad. There have to be babies that make up the lower end of the weight spectrum. They gain a half pound a week, so that would make her like 7 pounds at 40 weeks. Nothing wrong with that.
My kid's head has consistently measured in the 98th percentile my whole 3rd trimester. I'm worried to death about it, but again, some kids have to make up the larger end of the spectrum too.
Good luck to you. I hope your daughter cooperates better than my son does at your NSTs!
thanks, guys! i wasn't too worried about her measuring small until they said we need to go in for extra tests. i guess erring on the side of caution is a good thing, but it doesn't help the worry factor.
DH was under 6 lbs when he was born and i was a little over 6lbs...so if audrey decides she is going to be small, i don't think there is much else we can do about it!
"Wearing his BING CROSBY clothes and crooning...buuuh buuh buuuh"
Agreed. Plus you and DH were both on the smaller side too! Try not to worry and let us know how things go!
thank you!
This. I'm guessing the doctor is just trying to be safe and double check with the u/s. It will be ok!
