It seems like it is getting bad around here. One of the high schools in the area has over 300 kids with the this flu. We have several already with it in my department. We won't be cycling again till mid-late Oct, but it worries me because I'm sure it will be even worse by then. Is anyone else worried? Being sick and cycling really scares me.

Re: Is anyone worried about cycling & the flu??
I am not worried at all. I feel that the media really blew the "swine flu scare" WAY out of proportion and that it isn't that big of a deal. I don't think H1N1 is any worse than the regular flu would be and I was never nervous to cycle during normal flu season.
I will get both the normal flu and H1N1 vaccinations as my employer is offering them for free.
Because we're fancy like that.

this. and that's why i am getting the regular flu and h1n1 vaccination.
and for the pp who said that h1n1 is the same as regular flu, it really isn't. my sister had it over the summer and she is in great health and was bed ridden for almost 2 weeks, i think it's very rare for "regular" flu to affect people that way.
Yes, I am a teacher in NYC and my school had a major problem the end of last year. I was just getting over pneumonia, so when my dr heard that half of my school (!!) was out with swine, I stayed home for a week. I missed a lot of work, but thankfully my principal was very understanding.
Now I am getting ready to go back and I am honestly very nervous. I have a very weak immune system. I will just wash my hands a lot and do all of those things I am supposed to do! It's crazy, though! Oh, and I will try to get a vaccination.
