Henry Ford Macomb

Has any one delivered at Henry Ford Macomb? I am new to the area and my doctor suggested an OBGYN that delivers through there. It is extremely close to me so I was wondering if anyone had any experiences to share....THANKS!

Re: Henry Ford Macomb

  • What kind of birth are you looking for?  If you are looking for a low intervention, natural birth, I would suggest other places.  If you are looking for the typical: induction, epidural, intervention happy birth, it doesn't really matter which of the local hospitals you choose, you'll get what you're looking for!

Sorry, it is not meant to sound cynical...it's just the truth.  We're pretty intervention happy around here, so if that's not what you're looking for, you have to look a little harder!

I'm seriously getting sick of these types of replies from you.  Is it possible for you ever to reply to these types of posts without knocking all the area hospitals?  Frankly- it's getting annoying and I'm sure I'm not alone in that!  Not all hospitals are evil and push interventions like you make it seem.  Just because you go to a hospital doesn't mean you're going to be induced or have a c/s.  In fact, with my own personal experience, I found the hospital very open to my own wishes and was very hesitant to do any unnecessary intervention.  Hospitals are understanding that women want births to be as natural as possible, so it seems like they've becoming more open to that.  We get you're anti-hospitals but birthing centers and home births aren't for everyone and they come with their own set of risks. So please tone down the cynical attitude!

  • Couldn't agree more Renee!

I like getting different perspectives but it IS possible to do so without knocking the hospitals and implying they are all evil.

As Renee said - home births come with their own set of risks too.  It would be nice if you'd acknowledge that as well while you're knocking hospital births!
