I love shopping at Aldi. I make one trip a month and just stock up on our pantry things. I buy things like tuna, mac 'n cheese, crackers/chips, cereal. Basically anything with a good shelf life.
Things are not brand name, a lot of them are brands I had never heard of, so if you are looking for brands, it is not the store for you.
Aldi also has a double money back guarantee. If you buy something and don't like it, you can take it back, they will refund the money and give you an item of equal or lesser value FREE. I have done this a few times, and they are wonderful about it.
Make sure you take your own grocery bags though, or buy a set the first time you go!
I do not buy meat there, because I can buy in bulk at Sams and its cheaper.
We make a list each week (or everyother) and go to aldi first. Whatever we can't get there, I get at walmart or super target. Their cereal is great, and milk here is 1.39!!! That is less than 1/2 normal grocery prices. For our family of three, We are able to get groceries for less then 50.00 a week by shopping there. (I also make DH's lunches, so that is included!)
We have not had the best luck with produce there, but that could be just us!
Produce is touch and go, I forgot to mention this. We have a new Aldi that was just built and they tend to have better things than the older one I was going to.
I love it! The deals are definately worth it. I don't buy meat there ususally, but everything else, especially canned goods are great! I even like the produce. Went in yesterday just for 3 tomatos, quart of blueberries, and a bunch of bananas...less then $5!
