hello! so i know i'm not quite in the 2nd trimester yet, but i figured you guys could help me out. i also know that i probably shouldn't continue temping, but i plan on doing so until 16 wks (please don't flame me for this, i'm one of those overly anxious types).
now, yesterday, my temp was 99.0 and today, it was 98.6, by far the biggest drop so far. usually my temps will rise and fall within about a tenth of a degree or 2 tenths of a degree, so this worries me. should i call my dr now or wait till tomorrow's temp readings? and is this why people say you shouldn't temp? probably, huh?
Re: 12.5 wks and temps fell!!!
This is why you shouldn't keep temping. Your temp eventually goes back to pretty much normal. I felt sick on Monday and took my temp - granted it wasn't first thing when I woke up, but it was 97.7.
Have you had an u/s or heard the heartbeat yet? If so, then your chances of m/c are about 1-2% at this point. Take a deep breath and step away from the thermometer!

Yes, I think this is exactly why you should not be temping.
If you are concerned - you should call your doctor and get a beta done if neccesary... or a sonogram just to reassure yourself. But - I do not think you have anything to worry about.
Put the thermometer down.
You're stressing yourself out over NOTHING. Stress isn't good for your baby. Relax and enjoy being pregnant.
yes, i have had an ultrasound saw and heard the heartbeat. at 12 week appt dr said i was fantastic...i guess further evidence that baby's alright.
Your temps mean nothing at this point. If you are so 'anxious', buy a doppler. At least that will tell you something.
I didn't even have to open this and had already said. STOP TEMPING
stop. stop now.
I stopped temping 2 days after my BFP.
You are causing yourself undue stress and worry.
The reason you just gave for temping is exactly the reason you shouldn't be temping. What's so magic about 16 weeks anyway? At this point, your BBT isn't a good measure of a healthy pregnancy, anyhow. It's a lose-lose situation.
take everyone's advice. Stop temping.
Don't make us smack your thermometer hand with a rolled up newspaper.
Like pp's have said, the info is not useful to you (or any medical practitioners) at this point.

She doesn't need a betas done or a sonogram done. They are not for "reassurance" they are diagnostic medical procedures.
It is one thing to be an informed advocate for your health care...it's another to be uninformed and demanding treatment you don't need. There is no clinical indication that any sort of medical treatment is needed in OP's case. To recommend she ask for an ultrasound or bloodwork for "reassurance" is misguided at best.
Call your doctor if you're freaking out and then listen to their advice. If it contradicts what you read somewhere reputable (Mayo Clinic for example), then go ahead and discuss your concerns with your physician or midwife. Go buy the book Mayo Clinic's Guide to Health Pregnancy. It has a chart at the end of each chapter with instructions...E.g. "Discuss at next appointment", "Call if pain has lasted for x hours" or "Call your health care provider immediately."
Who do you think ends up paying for all of this in the long run? Everyone else does. Everyone else's insurance premiums are higher because people demand unnecessary tests or treatments (e.g. "Give me antibioitics- I have a bad cold!" ~Newsflash- antibiotics don't treat viruses...~ or in this case "My temps fell- give me an ultrasound/betas"... People are always complaining about long waits for lab results, appointments, waiting room waits, etc.... If people would stop clogging the system with unnecessary appointments, etc. it would be better for everyone. Worst are the people who demand antibiotics...this leads to more and more antibiotic-resistant strains (like the MRSA scare) which is bad for EVERYONE'S health. My friends who are doctors are always complaining about people who do this.....Sorry for the rant I'm just sick and tired of people giving crappy advice on here.
PS- There's a reason you're told to STOP TEMPING! It isn't reliable. Don't expect to NOT get flamed for insisting on temping through 16w.
