NBR: Posting Pictures on Blog Spot

How do you get pictures to show up nicely once they are posted to your blog?  All of the pictures I've uploaded seem to be fuzzy even though they look just fine in iPhoto.  The main reason we have the blog is to share photos of the babe with our families, but the pics aren't looking too hot.  I must admit, I'm a little disappointed.  Thanks in advance!

Re: NBR: Posting Pictures on Blog Spot

  • I've noticed that some of my pictures are definitely not as clear on blogspot as they are on my computer. I'm thinking maybe they need to be resized before I upload them. Maybe they're too big? I did notice that when I changed the size of the pictures on my blog (from medium to large) that helped a little.

  • This problem drives DH nuts (he's kind of a computer nerd). ?He researched it and apparently it's a common problem with blogger. ?Our pictures always look a little washed out and not as vivid. ?Making them a little smaller (800 pixels) helped a lot, but we're also thinking of uploading them through a link instead of straight to the blog to see if that helps.
  • This is strange. I have never heard of this problem.

Only recently have I been resizing the images to make them smaller to take up less space, but I never had the fuzzy picture problem.

    Have you tried resizing?

  • I haven't tried resizing them before uploading.  The pictures have been uploaded on "medium."  I don't want to have to go back to emailing pictures, but I also hate that they look so bad on the blog.

OK, I'm a little embarrassed to ask but...how do you resize pictures before you upload them?  Embarrassed

  • I resize our photos because straight out of camera, they are huge, and they take forever to upload and take up a ton of space on blogger. I resize them in photoshop.

They seem fine to me sized smaller, but sometimes when I upload them, they look a little blurry on the actual page where I'm typing out the post. However, the look okay once the post is published to the blog.

  • I never liked uploading thru blogger, b/c it took so long.  I use tinypic and then copy and paste the code into the post... I think it works pretty well (and you can choose the size when you are uploading).

are you hosting them somewhere (i.e., flicker)? if so, you can select to use the small or medium size from there.

Nope.  I'm loading them straight from the computer.  Do I need to host them somewhere in order to resize or for better quality?  I really wanted to avoid hosting all of the pics online.  Can you resize using iPhoto?  I don't have Photoshop.
