Have you ever blocked a phone number???

For over a year, at least twice a week, someone calls my house - sometimes very early in the morning (7:00am on a SUNDAY!) and sometimes very late at night.  The person is NEVER on the other end when I pick up the phone - it's usually just a dial tone, but sometimes it's just silence.  His name and phone number come up on our caller ID and I've *69 the number and called it directly and no one ever answers and sometimes it doesn't even connect before it gets disconnected.  Finally today I had enough, so I called my phone company to block the f'ing number from ever calling here again.

I never thought it would be such a PIA!  I had to change my whole package just to get the Call Disabling feature (but I'll be paying less per month, so that's a plus) then in order to use the feature, I can no longer receive calls from Private numbers.  Well, my IL's have a private number as do all my doctor's offices so I have to add all those numbers to a priority list and who knows what other calls I'll miss .....

Thanks a lot Mr. Alan Kirkwood - whoever you are!!!

  • That's so weird. I wonder what his deal is? Do you think he just has the wrong phone number and doesn't realize it?

  • You know who he is and how to find him. Over a year on a regular basis? Sounds like harrassment to me. Call the cops Big Smile

  • HA HA!  We have the police that call us about twice a week looking for donations. Plus, Payless, Lane Bryant, and The Avenue will all abuse your phone number with solicitations at like 9 am on the weekend.

I called my phone company (Comcast) and they told me about call forwarding. I pick up my phone and hit *72 (enter my cell phone #) and calls are forwarded to my cell. My cell has a handy dandy call-block/call-reject list you can populate.

Any other okay numbers will ring through. We love it! DH especially loves it b/c he's not getting woken up every morning with the phone ringing.

  • I would never in a million years put ideas or suggestions in your head, but I had to chime in here.  That was happening to me for 2 years when I was married to my ex-husband.  It was from "David White".

Turned out, it was my ex-husband's mistress.  She lived with her parents, and that was her father's name.  She called and hung up on me just about every day.  Not until after the marriage was over did I put 2 and 2 together on the phone calls, because her last name was not "White".

But, yeah, blocking that number is probably the best thing to do.
