I am on CD17 of a clomid cycle (50 mg) and I still haven't had a surge and DH and I were planning on going out of town this weekend separately...so i went in to be checked today and I have at least 6 follicles on each ovary! ugh...no wonder I have been feeling so uncomfortable. I am waiting for the call with the results and the b/w info, but I thought I would check with you all while I am waiting. The u/s tech said that none of them were mature...so here are my questions:
Is that a lot of follicles for clomid? Too many?
Are they likely to tell my husband and I to stay far, far away from each other (not knowing the risks of HOM)?
Guessing that with that many follies they won't think about giving me a trigger shot to get this show on the road, right?
Thanks!
Re: Not all eggs are supposed to come by the dozen....
my RE won't do an IUI with more than 4 follies (unless there have been MULTIPLE failed IUIs before). I don't think having 12 follicles is that many especially if none of them are mature. If you had 12 follies that are mature that would be another story.
But if only 4 are mature at the time of trigger I don't see why there would be an issue? Maybe I'm way off base here?
i agree with others. it all depends on how many are mature or near maturity... i had 9 follicles one cycle, but we're pretty sure only three of those actually produced eggs when all was said and done. a few dominant follicles should develop, and the others will likely shrink down or disappear. if they don't, then yes, i'd be concerned.
good luck!
Because we're fancy like that.
