Infertility

I think I might be a freak, re PIO

It was the shot I dreaded the most b/c I'd heard such horror stories....

but I barely feel it going in.  It doesn't leak.  It doesn't leave cream cheese in my ho-ha.  I don't have to sit on the couch for an hour after putting it in to keep it from falling out.

Sometimes I get a little bruise on my butt, and sometimes it feels like I bumped into a corner of a desk or something, but really it's not bad.  I don't have big knots in my butt.

I've got PI cottonseed oil.  Is that thinner or something?

Except the time I hit a nerve.  That zinged.

I don't LOVE it, but I'm not hating it like I expected.

  • Then I am freakier! I have no s/e from it at all. The worst part is looking at the needle and thinking gee that is huge it SHOULD hurt but it never does. My dh is the greatest PIO injection giver:)

  • My shots were in a different type of oil. I think everyone's bodies react differently too. Consider yourself lucky!!

  • that's great! that has pretty much been my experience too, although now that I'm on my third cycle of it I am starting to get knots/bumps at the injection sites - feels like I've got peanut m&m's in there.

I do like it better than suppositories, that's for sure!

  • Thanks for posting this. I am scared of it because of my SIL. She said her DH gave her one shot, then she demanded the suppositories from her RE. Then I found out she actually gave herself the shot with the 18gauge needle! I was like are you crazy? The pharmacy sent the 18s for drawing up and 23s (I think) for injecting, but my nurse even gave me extra 27s for injecting. We have horses, and we won't even use 18gauge needles on them! SIL is a crazy lady! LOL
