Infertility

Another clomid question

I start 50 of clomid tomorrow and then as soon as I get a + OPK back to back IUI's . . . but no monitoring.  The only time the RE's office mentioned an ultrasound was if this first cycle failed, then they would do an ultrasound before the 2nd cycle.

Based upon what I've read in posts over the last few months, shouldn't I have an ultrasound before the IUI to see what's going on?  I just left a message with my RE's office and I'm sure I won't hear from them for a while so I was hoping I could get some insight here.

Thanks!

Re: Another clomid question

  • I was in the same situation as you and the ladies on this board encouraged me to push for an u/s. So I did. I asked the nurse how do you know I am not overstimulated? That question did the trick and I had an u/s on days 14 and 16.

    Push for it! GL!

  • ditto.     definitely ask for it.    you want to know what your risk is for multiples...  that's important!

  • Ask for the ultrasound.  Why take the Clomid if you don't know if it is working or not?  Not to mention the possible side effects - multiples, cysts, thin lining, etc...They can monitor all of these things!

  • I just had my 1st u/s today so they could PUT me on clomid first time ever. I have very limited experience, but that's what my RE does first. She wants to monitor me, u/s, next Fri. I start clomid today.
