Babies: 0 - 3 Months

STTN and/or waking only once?

At what age did your LO only wake once per night and at what age did they start STTN?  I need something to look forward to!  Right now, DS goes down around 9, wakes around 1 and 5.  Then he is up for the day at 5.

Re: STTN and/or waking only once?

  • Oh, I would LOVE to have your sleep schedule.  I can't help you.  DS is over 5 months and still wakes up about three times a night.  That is with a bedtime of 7:30 and up for the day at 6:30.

  • Both of mine started STTN at 2 mo.  I understand that this is the exception and not necessarily the rule though.  We've just been blessed with sleepin' babies!  They LOVE their sleep!

  • He's 2 weeks...it may be a while.

And not to get your hopes up but DS was sleeping 6 hours straight at 3 weeks and 8-10 at 6 weeks.  Now he does a consistent 10 hours.

  • DS started STTN at 3 months. I'd say by 9-10 weeks he was just getting up once.

  • That is a great schedule for a 2 week old! ?DS usually wakes once around 3a. ?Sometimes he wakes more.

  • My DS has yet to actually STTN, but he does only wake once 90% of the time.  He usually sleeps from 10:30-3:00ish and then from 4:30-7:00ish.  He started doing this at about 7 weeks.
  • Ds only wakes 1-2 times a night, but he's six months.  There's hope, it could be a lot earlier for you-but 2 weeks is really young.

  • hahahahaha.

    Oh, you're serious.

Your 2 week old is on a great sleep schedule. DD started waking up only once at 5.5 months. She was technically sttn (12-6) around 2 months, stopped at 3, woke up 4-6 times a night for months 4 and 5 and finally seems to have figured it out and sleeps 7:30-7 with a feeding around 4 or 5.

"Hello, babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. At the outside, babies, you've got about a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies. God damn it, you've got to be kind." - Kurt Vonnegut
  • At 2 weeks you are lucky LO only wakes up that often!  We were feeding every 2 hours around the clock until 1.5 months.  Now DD STTN 9pm-5am w/o waking.

  • ha ha... DD STTN at 2 months,1 week until 3 months,1 week.  now she's up once per night
  • Your schedule now seems like what my DS was doing at that age -

We then moved to ine wake up time and now at just over 3 months he goes down anywhere from 9-10 and sleeps through to 7-8.

  • DD goes down around 9pm and as long as we are having a good night she does one of the following: 1) Up around 1am and 5am or 2) Up around 2am and 6am. I prefer option 2, since I get up for work at 6am anyways and then she just stays up with me and that is technically only getting up once a night. She usually goes back to sleep at Grandmas from 8am-10am. She has never slept longer then 5 straight and it has been gradually getting longer in 30 minutes increments. At your baby's age, mine was up after 2-3 hours, so IMO you are doing great.

  • Wow--at 2 weeks DD woke up to eat every hour. I'd say yours is on a pretty great schedule.

Right now she gets up 2-3 times per night.
