Mom's of girls

When did your DD get her first haircut? Abigail's hair is so long and gets in her eyes. I use hairbows to pull it out of her face, but she always pulls it out. So I'm thinking its going to be time to get a haircut soon...at least the front.

  • SC has fine hair I used to just trim it myself...which was ok, not great but worked.  Her first official haircut at snipits was in October so she was just shy of 2.  I say go get a cut, they do such a better job!  I love Miss Mary Beth at Pigtails and Crewcuts on Lower Roswell, she does a GREAT job.  Its a fun place for the kids to go also.

  • Merritt was the exact same way.  She has a natural part and I didn't want her to have bangs, but heck if I could get her to keep a bow in her hair for more than a second or two.  Last month, I succumbed and now she has bangs.  Technically, it was her second haircut.  Her first cut was more of a mullet trim and we did that right before her birthday.  I'm hoping that when she gets a bit older she'll be more tolerant of bows, but we'll see.

  • Oh, Amanda, I WISH Evie had hair like Abigail.   I've been debating cutting off her mullet and her wispy ends that hang over her ears.   But we really don't have to.  Its not in her eyes or anything.    And she's 19 months.
  • Hey Amanda!!! How are you? I cannot believe Abigail (and Cristain, hi Stef!) are about to be 1. Anyway, just wanted to tell you we had the same dilemma last year right before Kate turned 1. We had this hairstyle for only a few months, then she let a bow stay in. Now she's a bow head and I can do pony tails, pig tails, etc and she tolerates everything. I was really opposed to bangs on her though cause I loved to see her whole face ;)

see what we did last year?

  • oh, realized i didn't answer your original question, kate had a haircut at like 6 months when i chopped 2 inches off her mullet! :). She's had a couple of small trims since then but no bangs!

  • So glad you asked this question because I cannot keep anything in Allison's hair either and her hair is also in her eyes. The other kids also pull her hair clips out of her hair at school and I am afraid they will choke on them too. I am looking forward to more responses.
  • I just keep putting the bow in over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.  Eventually she just give up.

But I will say that some bows are better than others just incase you haven't tried different ones.

  • Doodle had her first and only haircut on January 4, 2009 (my birthday, that's how I remember).  I supervised my mom (retired hairdresser) cutting her hair while we were at home and she was watching TV.  I told my mom 1/8th of an inch ONLY. So Danielle was like 2 1/2 years old...she hasn't had one since either :-) Her hair is REALLY very long down below her sholder blades in back, but it's so curly you'd never know unless you saw it wet/swimming.
  • I feel so excluded ;) j/k
  • I really wish I could put bows in Macy's hair :(  She doesn't have much hair in the front but a full mullet in the back. So at 13 months she got her first haircut by my mom who is a hairstylist. She just got some of the bulk from the back out so it looked alittle even with the front.

  • Payton doesn't have enough hair for me to cut!
  • Ava got her 1st one a few months ago.  But just to trim up the ends and neaten it up.  No bangs.  She's been wearing clips and hair accessories for a such a long time that she pretty much leaves it alone.  She hates for her hair to be in her eyes.

You can use those very small elastic rubber bands made for kids.  They are nearly impossible to pull out.

  • I have almost given up hope that P will ever have hair.
