Babies: 0 - 3 Months

What did you wear while in the hospital??

Besides the hospital issued gown for the actual delivery, I was trying to find a really comfy outfit that would be appropriate for when random extended family/church pastor/friends visit but something that I can just whip out a boob when needed. Let me know what worked and what didn't in the post-partum hours.

Thanks!!!

Re: What did you wear while in the hospital??

  • DS was born at 11pm so I wore the hospital gown until the next morning. I got a black 3/4 sleeve cotton night gown that went a little below my knees. I loved it! It was V-neck  and I wore a nursing tank under it so I could easily breastfeed. I got it at Target

  • I got a cute Nursing PJ set from Motherhood.  I loved it.  I felt like I looked nice and was really comfy.  A lot of people will say not to waste your money, but in the end i think it was totally worth it.

When I had DS I just wore a t-shirt and PJ pants.  It was really hard to nurse in that when you had visitors.  The nursing PJs were awesome!

  • I brought a nursing tank and pj bottoms but afterward you're bleeding so much that I didn't want to ruin them! I stayed in the hospital gown!

  • I stayed in my gown the whole time, and when we had visitors I just put my robe on.
  • I just wore the nursing gowns that the hospital had with a comfy pair of my maternity yoga pants underneath..  They're different from the gown you wear during delivery.

  • I wore the gown the entire time, even after delivery you are going to leak all sorts of evil from your orifices. I had to get a catheter 5 times because my urethra wasn't working right AND I was just too darn exhausted to care what I looked like to friends and family.

  • For baby #1 I wore a hospital gown the whole time.  For baby #2 I wore pajamas and a robe.  I felt much better in the PJs and would definitely go that route again.

  • Yoga pants and a nursing tank.  I found the hospital gown way too difficult to BF in.

Things I did different with this pregnancy:
    1. Waited TTC until after I had 3 normal menstrual cycles.
    2. Got a new OB - amazing man who listened!
    3. 200 mg progesterone until 12 weeks
    4. Daily lovenox injections
  • I stayed in the hospital gown the whole time. I didn't have extended visitors so I didn't care what I looked like.
  • Pajama pants and a nursing tank. I had a robe too. I hated the hospital gown. I wore a nursing tank under it during labor which helped me feel human and the dr/nurses didn't mind, even when I had my epi and ended up having a c section.

  • I was in the hospital for 3 days and I wore the gown the whole time. It was so much easier for me.

  • If you are coming to visit me in the hospital you better be expecting to see me in hospital clothes!  I did bring a robe and socks to wear with the gown though.

  • I hated that hospital gown and brought a few gowns I found at target. They both had easy access tops for feeding and long enough for people walking in. There is always a sheet if you really cover up. I was really hot in the hospital room but I think it was C/S induced hot flashes.

  • I bought a couple pairs of cheap yoga pants and some nursing tanks.  I had DS in the morning and changed into these the next morning.  They were WAY more comfy.  I hated the hospital gown!

  • I pretty much just wore the hospital gown. When people came to see me I wore sweatpants and a t-shirt. I would definitely bring a nursing tank with you.

this. my mom bought me a matching nightgown and robe. you dont really want to spend much on a outfit because you will probably be bleeding a lot.

This. I was in so much pain and exhausted I could care less what other people thought. The gown was easy to work with.

  • i wore yogo pants and tank tops and flip flops. that is all i brought.

the first night i slept in the gown b/c i had a c/c. but the next day i was showered and dressed inmy clothes.

  • I didn't give a crap what I looked like and I wore the hospital gown up until the morning we left. It was easier since I bled all kinds of crazy. I wasn't going to get that on MY clothes.

  • I wore a nightgown and a robe. It wasn't a nursing one but it was loose enough to pull down to nurse. I got it from Target. I also wore a nursing tank underneath. I thought I could wear pajama pants, but I'm so glad I didn't try. No way did I want to deal with pants -- too much going on down there.

  • Mostly I wore my own sundress/nighty type clothes. Like this:image

I didn't wear pants b/c I was too worried about pissing myself, which was a problem for me at the time.  I didn't like the hospital gowns b/c they were ugly and had big holes where my boobs were and we had non stop visitors.

  • Nursing Tanks and gauchos/maternity yoga pants....

I had a c section and didn't want anything rubbing around the incision area....also had a hoodie if I got cold.
