This is my 2nd cycle on Clomid, and I wasn't sure I O'd on my 1st cycle. My doctor told me to start using OPK's on CD12. This seemed acceptable to me since I usually O'd on CD18 or 19 without the Clomid. CD12 came and went and I continued to use the OPK's for the next week. Never had a positive result.
I don't know what possessed me to start using the OPK's earlier this cycle, but it's currently CD9 and I have the beginnings of a surge. I'm thinking I could see the surge as early as tomorrow, and it would have been another missed ovulation if I had followed the advice of my doctor.
I know most of you here are beyond the Clomid, but I thought this would be helpful to post for the people who are new to the drug. Hope this will help you out! Keep your fingers crossed for me this cycle.
Re: Sharing about Clomid
Wow that's really early to be getting a surge. Good thing you started testing right away. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!
Clomid can make each cycle different. Is your doctor having you come in to monitor your follicles? This would help to make sure the clomid is working for you and to let you know when they are close to maturity. I didn't use OPK's when using Clomid, but was monitored. I would ask your doctor if they do monitoring.
Good Luck!
See, I was supposed to go in for a progesterone draw a week after I got the official surge line. Since it never came, I didn't get the draw done. This cycle I will at least be able to schedule that.
^This. You really should be monitored. And your experience is one reason why.
Glad you caught it this cycle!
My Dr. told me to start OPK's on CD1. Sounds weird, but this is my first cycle on Clomid in a year...so IDK. Anyone else been told to do this?
i can't say any better what these posters said.
That may give you false positives while on the pills.
