DS woke up this morning with red spots all over his body (arms, legs, trunk, neck, forehead, etc). Sort of mosquito bite like, but smaller. This is the second time this has happened. This time more severe than the first time. Pedi says it's most likely a hypersensitivity reaction to one bug bite. Not a rash. DS does not seem bothered by the spots but it looks terrible.
She suggested giving him some benedryl tonight to see if that helped get rid of the spots. Other than that, no real suggestions (DH took him to the pedi today, I probably would have asked more questions!) Does this warrant a trip to a dermatologist? an allergist?
I'm worried that it's going to get worse each time since it is so much worse this time than the first time it happened. Anyone have any experience with this.
Re: anyone have experience with hypersensitivity to bug bites?
2 of my girls have that problem. Its like they are allergic to mosquito bites. It looks a lot worst than it really is. I use hydrocortisone cream on them and a dose of benadryl at night.
Personally I dont think it warrants a trip to the derm. or an allergist. Just make sure you put bug repellant on them (kid friendly kind) and try to avoid going outside during the worst of it.
