1st Trimester

Please help! Am I miscarrying?

I found out I was pregnant at 5 weeks along. Dr. scheduled blood tests for HCG levels. First one was 3,100. The next one that was 48 hours later came back at 3800. The dr. told me this was not good and said that he wanted to schedule a 3rd blood test for about 4 days later to check again because I wasn't having any pain or spotting at all. He said he wanted to make sure it wasn't ectopic or see if there is a miscarriage risk. I'm now 7 weeks along and my levels came back from yesterday's blood test and they are 4800. About a hour ago, I started spotting with blood and it had some clots in it.  I called the dr. They said to go home and put my feet up immediately and if I had any pain, to go to the ER, otherwise wait until I make it into their office tomorrow morning. I am still not having pain other than a little bit of cramping and I have see no blood since. I am really scared. They told me to tell my husband to come home from work to monitor me in case I started to feel faint or vomiting. They still could not say that I was miscarrying until they check me out tomorrow. Please be honest in your responses. I really need some piece of mind either way. This living in limbo for the past week is killing me and I would rather just hear the truth from you all instead of laying here wondering and waiting until tomorrow morning.

Re: Please help! Am I miscarrying?

  • I honestly have no clue. If I were you I would just try my best to keep a positive attitude till they tell you a definite answer. I had a scare around 5 1/2 weeks and I know it's so horrible to not have any control and not know anything. All I can say is stay off of google and try to rest I will be hoping and praying that everything goes well for you tomorrow!

  • Unfortunately, none of us are going to be able to ease your mind.  None of us know whats going on with you.  I would try my best to prepare yourself for the worst, but hope its not what you think.

    Hang in there.

  • Truthfully it could go either way. You could be fine or you could be miscarrying. I am sorry to not be any help. Do what your doctor told you too and try to relax. And if the worse happens please check out the miscarriage and Pregnancy loss board, It really helped me get through my miscarriage.

  • I don't think ANY of us should try to diagnos you right now. If your doctor thought you were in danger, they would probably tell you to come in. Follow their directions and rest, try to relax (as hard as that may be) and take care of yourself right now.

  • Take care of yourself and try to rest.  Hopefully, you are worrying for nothing and everything will be fine.  GL.
  • Honestly, I would say that it doesn't look good.  But you already know that, or you wouldn't be posting about it.  As pps have said, there is no way to know for sure until your u/s tomorrow.  Try to take it easy and do as your doctors have instructed.  Good luck, honey!

  • One of my girlfriends starting bleeding pretty heavily for an unknown reason in her 10th week. Everything did end up fine and the remainder of the pregnancy went perfect.

Try to relax, feet up.. read a good book or something to try to keep your mind off of it until you have your answer.

     Good luck!!

  • I had bleeding (bright red) several times throughout my first tri with DD. Obviously every situation is different and I don't know anything about how your #s are showing up, but just wanted to let you know that bleeding does not always = miscarriage.
  • As pp's have said, there is not much you can to do until tomorrow so try to relax (I know it is easier said than done) and follow the doctor's instructions. ?I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. ?Please keep us posted.
  • I honestly don't know.  I do know that at 6wks my levels were 4-5x higher than yours.  Unfortunately this pregnancy may not have taken.  I hope that's not the case and your u/s goes well tomorrow.

  • I can't answer your questions but I can offer thoughts and prayers for you.  I truly hope all turns out well.  Please let us know how it goes tomorrow.
  • Honestly, your bleeding is less worrisome (in terms of if you are having a miscarriage) than your betas.  That seems on the low side for 7 weeks - but it is rising, which is a good thing.  But like pps said, there is nothing you can do until you are seen by the doctor.  If you are 7 weeks, you should get a definitive answer as soon as you get checked out.  GL.  I hope everything turns out ok.

  • As someone who has gone through IF, my mantra has been as follows:

"I am pregnant until my doctor tells me otherwise"

"I am pregnant today, and that is all that matters"

I hope you get answers soon.

  • The fact that your betas aren't doubling is not a good sign. The same thing happened to me and unfortunately I m/c. My numbers were rising too - just not doubling. Take care of yourself and GL!
