Mine got down on both knees and just asked me to marry him in his backyard-we were both in our PJ's i looked gross to say the least and it took me by such surprise i screamed NO, but then said yes of course!!! at first thought our story was lame but as time goes i love it more and more Smile

we were vacationing in Tennessee with his family and were at a waterfall...he got down on one knee, cut that knee, so got down on both. i'm pretty sure i hit him because i thought he was joking, then i said yes!

Rose festival fireworks show! we were laying on the grass watching the fireworks.

in the weeks previous, he would always tease me by saying, "jlm, will you...." while pretending to put a ring on my finger, and finish the sentence with, "give me a kiss." He wanted me to be surprised, I guess.

I thought he was kidding when we were at the fireworks show too, until I felt the ring on my finger.

We had picked the ring up together that day so I knew he had it, but I thought he'd propose that night at dinner, instead he got down on one knee in the living room while "Runs House" was on MTV in the background. Every time I see that show I think of our proposal...haha..so romantic. We did go out for a nice dinner that night to celebrate...

"Friends" style - I got to his apartment, the whole place was lit with candles, he was down on one knee, in a tux, holding a bouquet of roses, and the ring. I knew the proposal was coming, but was so surprised about how and when he did it!

He asked me in Marina Del Ray, CA on the dock at nighttime. He got it all on video too! You think I would've thought something.. DUH! He said let's get ourselves on camera in CA, I'm like, okay!! Then he dropped to his knee and proposed. Very sweet and I LOVE watching the video!!

On a Thursday night during one of our walks by the shore, caught me off guard for sure! He got down on one knee too!

Christmas morning, he hung the ring on the tree at my parents house w/o me seeing it. After spending ALL DAY going to different family for the holiday, I was tired and ready for bed. He just kept sitting in my living room and was waiting for my parents to go to sleep so it would be just the two of us...I did not know anything was up. I was tired and didn't feel good and said "I'm tired, I'm going to sleep, so you need to just go home!" Then he took the ring off the tree and got down on one knee. I felt like the biggest B!tch.

We weren't together for Valentines Day.. and he didn't want to do a Vday proposal. The next day I came up to his house from college. He had a bunch of candles lit and put on our song from prom/dating days. I just thought it was a sweet thing for Vday. He kept talking about when we first started daying throughout the whole song. The he got down on his knee and said will you marry me. I flung myself on his bed and bawled for a good few minutes before I could talk.

I was so shocked. He had called my parents to ask permision and his mom went with him when he got the ring so alll of my family knew before I did. I was wondering why everyone was being so weird when they knew I was going up their that day. It all makes sense now!

In a very elaborate plan that involved whisking me away to what I thought was just dinner, but ended up being an overnight at a fancy inn. After dinner took a walk around a beautiful lake, he waxed poetically about our love and our future, and got down on one knee.

Complete with packing my overnight bag in secret, he designed my ring to incorporate family diamonds, a bottle of Dom, and a spa appt for a manicure/massage the next morning at the Inn.

It was perfect, and a total surprise-- good thing, since we had dated for about five years by then.

He booked a hotel room at a place I had been dying to stay at downtown. He drove me there blindfolded. We checked in and went to our room. When the door opened I saw petals on the floor, bouquets of roses, and a bottle of champagne on ice. We walked inside and he got down on one knee. It was perfect. Then he arranged for all of our friends to meet us after dinner for a surprise engagement party.

We were at my parent's for dinner. My grandpa was there too. After dinner, he said he had a poem to read. (The Exchange by Ron Rash) It was sweet, but then everyone just started chatting again. In the next silence, he said "Mr. and Mrs. Martin, I'd like to ask for your daughter's hand in marriage." And he got down on one knee and asked as my mom screamed "say yes, say yes!" Which, of course, I did!

He took me out to a nice dinner on the river and asked at the restaurant. I kept thinking something was wrong with him because he was obviously nervous. Our waitress kept hanging around our table too and when we got home I found out that my mom had called the restaurant and told them what was up so they would give us an intimate table with a good view.

My H's cousin R and his wife B were staying with us on vacation in Whistler, BC (my family has been going to Whistler every winter since I was 8). One night he suggested we go out bar hopping, so I went into the bathroom to get all dolled up for a night out. When I was ready to go R & B decided they were "too tired" and didn't come with us.

Just the two of us went and walked around town. I kept suggesting places to go and he kept shooting me down. He also had a death grip on my hand, which I thought was weird. We got to the center of the village and he started pulling me over to a "bar", but I knew there wasn't a freaking bar over there. It sort of ticked me off, so I turned around to go elsewhere. He grabbed my hand and spun me around to face him and then dropped to one knee in the center of the village. I kept saying, "What are you doing?", of course I knew what he was doing but I was sort of in shock. After I said yes and he put the ring on my finger the water works started.

We didn't end up going out that night, instead we went back to the condo where R & B were waiting for us.

My DH works as a software engineer at a company that makes GPS's (Global Positioning System) and someone created this activity called "geocaching" (pn gee-oh-cash-ing). It's basically treasure hunting with a GPS. People hide random things (coupons, Mickey D's toys, etc.) in tupperware boxes and you use the GPS to find them. It sound dumb, but we really enjoy it.

Anyway, DH kept suprising me too (drove me nuts) with random gifts; candy, cookies, or kisses, etc. One day in the middle of the week we tried to find this geocache and got lost in the woods, got eaten up by bugs, I ran into a tree limb and got a head contusion, and we never did find the supid thing! Well that same weekend DH asked me if I wanted to go try and find it again. I said no and he just kept pestering and asking me so I finally said yes. Turns out he got us lost as a decoy! He made me my own personal geocache on our church property that said something along the lines of "Congrats, you're the first person to find this cache, see DH for your prize!" when I found it. I thought it was gonna be candy or something so I'm acting all stupid and he pulled the ring box out of the glove compartment and proposed. I was so suprised I dropped the GPS in a mud hole! Needless to say, I said yes.
