Fave Baby Adoption Books

What are yours?

Of course, "Tell Me...", but another favorite of mine is "The Missing Piece." It's not about adoption per se, but the message fits and is great.

  • A mother for Choco is my fav adoption book, especially for transracial adoption. We have been getting a good collection of books that discuss how kids can look different but how they are all the same and have found some good ones there. I've yet to find anything remotely close to a transracial adoption book that isn't specific to international. If anyone has, please let me know? Maybe I should write one.?
  • I love A Mother for Choco!  I also love On Mother's Lap, by Ann Herbert Scott (this book is also available in an English & Spanish version).

Other's that I don't think anyone has mentioned:

Where the Sun Kisses the Sea, by Susan L. Gabel; and

Through Moon and Stars and Night Skies, by Ann Turner.

I have sometimes seen Love You Forever, by Robert N. Munsch, included in the ?great books for adoption? camp, but to be perfectly honest, I don?t really like it for young kids.

  • We LOVE "A Mother For Choco."  Another great one is "I Don't Have Your Eyes."  I think most of the others we have have already been mentioned.  Lily is already saying, "I grew in my birth mom's tummy and you adopted me and became my parents..." almost straight from "Tell Me Again..." :)
"Our children are not ours because they share our genes... they are ours because we have had the audacity to envision them. That, at the end of the day...or long sleepless night, is how love really works." Adoption Consultant Blog
