I had a consult with the RE today about what to do next. We were mostly talking IVF vs. Injectibles. He said that I have a 20% chance on injectibles and a 50% chance with IVF and that the chance for HOM is much higher on injectibles, obviously.
I do have $15k IF coverage that can be used for IVF right now and he pointed out that my coverage could change next year. I'm going to be 36 in Dec. and he also pointed out that what ever embies we get right now would be frozen in time at my current age making future pregnancies more of an option. These are both things I had not really considered even though they seem obvious. So we are leaning toward going straight to IVF.
It's weird. I never thought I would have IVF even after all of this started, but here we are.
Re: We are probalby moving on to IVF.
This could be a good thing though, my RE had mentioned IVF and I bristled at the thought but he made it seem more positive than I had previous viewed it.
I'm curious who your RE is since we're both in the Philly area, are you willing to share?
Good luck! I turned 36 in May, and our chance with IUI is pretty much non-existent... we decided to head straight to IVF. I'd rather have the high chance especially as we're paying out of pocket.
And the age definitely weighed on the decision, as well.
Me: PCOS/Amenorrhea DH: Azoospermia due to Y Chromosome Micro Deletion IVF w/ ICSI on hold until further notice
Hope
We are very thankful for the insurance. I don't know how we got so lucky. It's Aetna and it's not like I knew what I was looking for when I selected which coverage option to go with.
They are giving me a hard time about classifying me as IF rather than RPL and therefore giving me the coverage, but I think that issue will be resoved next month when I've had no documented cps for 6 months.
IVF #1 = BFP!! So blessed to have our baby boy! IVF #2 = Convert to frozen - 1 frostie! IVF #3 = Convert to frozen - 1 frostie! FET #1 = 8/14, Two transferred, One stuck! Praying for another healthy miracle! Due: 5/2/13
Because we're fancy like that.
Plans are good, but I understand on being surprised that you are "there" already. With the great insurance coverage and the odds, I think you are making a wise choice.
When do you think you will start?
