We had our second to last visit with Jack's orthotist today - his head looks GOOD ... but she and I both agreed that just a little bit more rounding out on what was the flat side would be great ... so we're going for another 4 weeks. Urgh. I can't believe I'm going that route, I am so ready to be done, but we've come this far, and he doesn't care about the helmet at all - so we're aiming for just a couple more millimeters of correction and then we're calling it a day! 4 more weeks will bring us to a total of .... 17! I had hoped he'd be out of it in 10. But it's a slow process .. correction is literally millimeter by millimeter. And really, his head looks great now - this is just a final opportunity to achieve a little more roundness. Frankly, my husband is balding and if Jack goes that route someday (or just wants to wear his hair super short, who knows what the style will be when he's a teen and later) - I just don't ever want him to be self-conscious about his head shape - so want to help him achieve as round a noggin as possible.
4 more weeks. We can do it!
Re: Helmet home stretch but still a ways to go....
Yay! That's awesome
I actually wanted to ask you when you noticed the flatness? My DS is only 3 1/2 weeks old, but REALLY favors laying with his head to the right. DH and I do all we can to turn it and I nurse him so that he's always laying on the opposite side. I'm worried he's getting a flat spot, but I'm also wondering if it's just too early to even be concerned. WDYT?

Great news! You can do it! This is definitely the home stretch. I look forward to our home stretch. Although, she really doesn't mind at all. I think she likes all the attention when we are out & about!
Did they ever discuss night wear only? I have been wondering this but never remember to ask.
I look forward to your "graduation" post!

You are so close! I can't believe it's already been 13 weeks. But having experienced DD's cast, I know how time drags! I hope it flies by for you!
