Brag on your OB

Hi ladies!  I am 6 months pregnant and found out yesterday that my OB is shutting down his practice effective immediately.  Care to brag on your OB?  We live in Irving and had planned to deliver at Med City Dallas....Suggestions?  Thanks! :)

Re: Brag on your OB

  • I don't have one, I just wanted to say wow, kinda short notice on your ob! What about his other patients that could deliver any day now did he shaft them too? Good luck in finding a new ob!

  • Per Creamy's rec, I've been seeing Dr. Eisenberg in Plano for my checkups, and he's really nice. Great, clean office and very friendly staff.

I believe the actual practice is called Women's Specialists of Plano.

Oh, and that really sucks that your OB just quit on you 6 months into the pregnancy. That would really tick me off.

  • Mine is in Arlington so not very helpful. It's Omega OBGYN, they have offices in Arlington, Mansfield (my location) and Grand Prairie. I love this place and the staff. Sorry but I have nothing for Irving. What happened that your OB is shutting down immediately. That would make me concerned. Good luck
  • I also live in Irving. I LOVE Dr NEAL at Baylor Grapevine.

grapevineob.com (it isnt the greatest webside) also look up Baylor Grapevine Maternity. All new there too from what I hear.

I started going to him after several recommendations as soon as I found out I was pregnant. He really includes your SO. I have also heard WONDERFUL things about delivering there. Drive time isnt bad either in my opinion, right down 114.

There is also a Baylor in Irving that I was considering until I got such great recommendations for Dr Neal.

  • The only thing I have heard (from a co-worker of mine) is that he wants to spend time with his family and possibly that he had a new baby (he never indicated any of that to us.).  While that is understandable that he might want to take time off or maybe even close practice to spend more time with his kids - when you have been seeing patients for months - espc one that is a high risk pregnancy like mine  - I just think that a little head's up to his intentions would be the right thing to do.  Supposedly they are mailing out letters to everyone and they will be availabe for a few weeks so you can get your patient records.  I found out all this from my co-worker who was supposed to have an appointment yesterday that got cancelled.  When I called to see what was up - I asked if my appointment for next week had been cancelled too.  Yes.  Thanks for the notice.  I feel sorry for the receptionist lady - she sounded like she was reading from a script of things she was allowed to say.  I'm sure as these letters are received she will receive tons of calls from angry pregnant women!  I know I'll be able to find a new one who will treat both of us fine - it's just irritating....and a poor way to run a business.  I would hope that he would make special accomodations for those who are due within the next month or so  - but who knows...
  • I love mine - Dr. Kristin Carmichael in Irving. She delivers at Las Colinas Medical Center. I wasn't considered "high risk" but I did have issues with my platelets dipping dangerously low toward the end of my pregnancy. She got me in to see a hematologist and worked with us both to figure out the best plan of action for baby and me, and she also did everything she could to help me forego a c-section (she knew all along I didn't want one, and then due to the platelet issue, it was almost a necessity). I've heard some ppl gripe that her staff is rude, but I never had a problem with them. Loved her nurses and PA, too.

I adore that man. That's why I can't switch even though I know I have better VBAC odds with a midwife.

His name has come up a few times when I've been asking people.  One of my best friends had him deliver her 2 babies.  Unfortunately he isn't on my insurance :(

I see Dr. Rebecca Robert at the same office, and I had a great experience the whole way through.

Mrs Kent, did Janet the sono tech give you a gender guess for you NT scan/early screen if you had one?  Janet said at 13 weeks that I was having a girl. Then last week Dr Neal said she has never been wrong before. Just curious.

  • Amy Sigman at Advanced Women's Healthcare in Med. City. I absolutely cannot say enough good things about her and would cry if I had to find another OB!! I would highly recommend any and all of the female OB's in that practice and have seen them all several times w/ both of my kiddos. They are all wonderful. If I had to pick a close 2nd behind Dr. Sigman, it would be Dr. Heingtes.
  • I used Dr. Darrel Jordan out at Medical City. I had some pretty serious complications during delivery (placenta accreta) and if it weren't for Dr. Jordan I probably wouldn't be sitting here today.

His office staff/nurses/techs are awesome as well. Very nice and friendly. And with the exception of the days I had an u/s, I rarely waited for longer than 15 minutes to be seen.

Dr. Jordan never rushed you during an appointment. I always felt like he took the time to answer all my questions. And he made sure I understood everything, if not, he would take the time to re-explain things.

Something that was important to me was knowing there was a good chance that my doctor was going to be there at delivery and not some on-call doctor, and I felt confident that would be the case with Dr. J. His wife is a princiapal, so he only goes on vacation twice a year: once at the start of summer and once during the holidays. I went into labor at midnight and delivered at 4 in the morning and I still had Dr. J there and not an on-call doctor.

Yes ma'am, Dr. Eisenberg delivered T because my OB, Dr. Monier, was out of town.  If you are high-risk, both of them come highly recommended.  I love Dr. Monier - he's awesome.

Yep, she said girl at 12 weeks and was right!  We waited until the 20 week u/s to spread the news though.  She's so nice, isn't she?

Dr. Sigman is my OB as well and I agree with everything here.  The number for Dr. Sigman is 972-566-7760.

  • I love Janet. She was right about DD, but I don't think I saw her for an U/S until about 18 weeks. I saw her a lot after that because of a low lying placenta.

Janet did our NT scan at 14 weeks and said it was a girl and it was!  I second Rebecca Roberts.  I pushed for 2 hours and she never so much looked at a watch even though it was around lunch time.  Love her!  She has a really long wait time sometimes but once you are on the delivering end...you realize why!

  • Dr. Aimee Napier - she's at Med City Dallas too!  She is FANTASTIC!
  • Mine is actually in Arlington, across from the Medical Center of Arlington. He's in the Omega OBGYN building, and all the drs there are great.
