Recommend your Facial Cleansers

This morning I used for the first time some Neutrogena cleanser and realized after I used it, that it contained salicylic acid. I read up on BabyCenter.com that the topical isn't that bad during pregnancy in small uses, but they recommend not using.

What products do you use that are completely safe during pregnancy.

 Thanks

Nikki

  • I still use my cleanser and moisturizer with salicylic acid in it.  I have since my BFP.

  • I have been using cetaphil, but not with great results. I have acne like I'm in high school.

I was at a bare essentials over the weekend and the sales lady sold me on one of their bare minerals cleansers... Not sure how I like it yet. It's a powder and I haven't quite got the mixing with water and then putting on my face thing down yet.

  • Acne hasn't been an issue for me during the pregnancy, so I've continued what I did pre-preg -- I only use shea butter or handmade soaps on my face.  These days I'm using South of France Shea Butter Natural Bar Soap or handmade soaps that are sold at my local farmer's market.

  • My OB was clear that any OTC facial product is fine.  Just don't go orally ingesting large amounts of salicylic acid.  That said, salicylic acid in a cleanser doesn't really do much for your face because it gets washed right off (so the BHA doesn't get a chance to do anything).  Check out beautypedia.com.  It's from that lady that wrote Don't Go To the Cosmetics Counter Without Me and it has really helped my focus in on the products that will actually work for me so that I don't waste money.  I used to buy a billion things from sephora trying to find just the right thing for my skin.
  • I use Coalface from lush.com and Alba hawaiian pineapple scrubby stuff. No soap has ever been perfect for my skin, but these come close :)
  • I use Olay foaming face wash. I dont know about the salicylic (sp?) acid content but it makes my skin feel soft and moisturized.
    Effing crazy people.
  • I use Neutrogena Fresh Foaming Cleanser at night.  It's a make-up remover and cleanser.  No salicylic acid.  But I use Clearasil Ultra Acne clearing scrub in the mornings and it does have SA in it.  As long as you aren't ingesting the stuff its fine.  I used a cleanser with SA every day with my first pregnancy is DD is just fine.

  • I use aveeno, it has no harsh chemicals or salicylic acid.

  • I use Clinique foaming facial cleanser.  My skin gets very sensitive from time to time but I've never had a problem with it, AND it still seems to get my face nice and clean (which I feel can be an issue with the gentle cleansers).
