I'm a babyfood making machine

Last night I turned 2 huge zuchinni and 2 huge summer squash into some delicious puree for my favorite little baby. :D It was my first time making baby food. I always wanted to try with Boston but just never did it.

I'm so glad I did! It's going to make me feel so much better knowing what's in there - not to mention I got the squash locally ALL for $2.50. Can't beat that.

Next I need to figure out how to make fruit into puree.. hmm. Can you tell I hardly ever cook?

Re: I'm a babyfood making machine

  • for bananas you just mush them up and same with avocados - no cooking invovled.

for most other fruits I usually cooked them a bit, well really i steamed them until they were soft. i did apples, apricots, pears, prunes (those I used dried and simmered until they were soft again)... anything i could peel and simmer I did. I think the only one I wouldn't try is grapes or something like that. or melon but I suppose you could just run it through with an immersion blender...

  • wholesomebabyfood.com is a must-visit site!  has all the info you need :)
  • It's very satisfying, isn't it?  I always joke that DS eats better than I do - all his stuff is local or organic, etc...
