XP: NBR How to deep clean tile floors

I love, but hate our tiled kitchen/dining room.  For some reason it's hard to keep clean, especially with the grout in between the tiles.  We just bought this house 3 months ago, and they were not in the greatest shape when we bought the house.  There's nothing wrong with the tiles but I keep noticing my feet get dirty when I walk on these floors (yuck).  I just mop with pine sol, but it doesn't seem to be enough to get up the stuff that is there, probably due to the previous owner's lack of cleaning them regularly!

I plan on scrubbing them today on my hands and knees.  Any recommendations for what type of cleaning product to use??

Thanks!

  • Our grout gets really dirty.  I have to get on my hands and knees and scrub it with a mixture of comet and water.

  • The only thing that seems to work at cleaning the grout is to get a good steam cleaner (high heat and puts out good pressure) that has attachments to get close to the grout.  The dirt will almost melt away.  Otherwise there's not much else that'll work.  There are companies that you can hire to clean and they'll reseal everything.  It seemed like the dirt on the feet got better once the grout was clean.

  • I scrub with oxyclean and water with a little grout brush.  You can also have a pro cleaning company come in and do it once to get it really clean for you.
