We've been looking at the Baby Trend carseat because they're rated high and aren't too expensive- What do you use? Did you like it? Would it be safe to buy a used carseat if it looked in almost new condition?
personly I would not buy a used one because you never know if it has been in a crash (but if you find a cheep/free one you can bring it to bru to "trade in" and get 20% off a new one) We have the Graco Safe Seat 32, True it is BIG but we like it because it will fit him the longest knowing Aiden was going to be tall I wanted something that would fit a taller baby. I have a smaller car & are unable to use the base with it (but I think that might have happened with any carseat out there. My friend who bought a "travel system" son has already grown out of his (due to being tall) and he was only born 2 weeks before Aiden. Next week we go into the Doc for his 4 month check up & I wander how tall he will be then
We have the same car seat as Patti and we love it...actually we stole a lot of ideas that Patti gave us, and she hasn't failed us yet...love the car seat, love the stroller!!

I wouldn't really say you "stole" my ideas as you had to one up me on the stroller But you do have a lot of the same things
I had the previous version of Patti's. It was the Graco Safeseat and I bought it when my DS was 5 months old and outgrew his snugride-20 pound weight limit:( Mine was used but I didn't mind as it was from a friend and accident free. I recommend it along with the Graco Snap and Go stroller to reduce weight.
We have the BabyTrend carseat and loved it. My husband wouldn't even look at anything else after trying out the triangle handle. I've noticed it attaches to more than just BabyTrend strollers, too.
Wife to an amazing man and mom to three darling girls!
We have the Graco Snugride and love it. I believe it goes up to 22 lbs. However we will take Harper out before she hits 22 lbs because it's getting heavy to carry around (she's almost 19 lbs) I believe it goes up to over 30 in. for length and she isn't there yet but her feet still stick out. But again we're happy with it. We don't have any issues fitting the base in either of our cars. You can get a travel system with it or a more compact stoller, the metrolite, which we chose to do. You can still use it like a travel system but it's lighter to pack up.
I would be hesitant to buy a used car seat unless you know where it's coming from. You don't know what it's been through and it's recommended to only use a car seat for five years due to safety.

We have the Safty First Alpha Omega Elite and love it. I like it because it's the only ONE car seat we will ever have to have.
