A question for those TTC at least 6 months

Would you test on your birthday? We've been ttc since Oct 08 and when we first started trying I would have definitely tested on my bday thinking it would be so great to get a bfp that day. But now I am wary b/c I've become a little more sensitive to the BFNs than I used to be. FF says my next AF/test date is my bday.

I can't decide.

I wouldn't. I was 11 DPO on my birthday this year, and opted not to test. I just didn't want to ruin the one day allotted to me to have a good time.

I'm glad I didn't either- AF came in all her whorish glory the following day. I thanked her for at least letting me have a pool party with no sign of her!

I would but I'm a little numbed by the BFNs now. It's more of a well that sucks but not horribly suprising, instead of the crying and weepiness that it caused a few months prior.

If it's going to ruin your day to get a BFN hold off and enjoy you're day. Personally I would be distracted anyway if I put it off for the next day.

I tested on DH's b-day and it was not good. We were sad the entire day. It took us 8 cycles, 11months to get KU. Anytime it would have been a "special" time to test we got BFN. You'd have thought we would have learned and stopped testing on "special days" I wouldn't. maybe the day before so you'd be ok with drinking, but on B-day I'mnot sure i would.

I haven't been trying for 6 months yet but this cycle I will be able to test on my b day. And I don't know if I will. Like you said it would be a great present, but if not...it would make it an even more crap-tastic day.

This cycle I didn't even want to test. LOL

TO be honest I don't think it's a good idea if you think a BFN will make you sad but knowing me I would do it and then go party and get drunk if it was a BFN! :P

I'm in kind of the same boat. We've only been trying since late March, but this month I could test on my birthday, but I'm def. not going too.

I think I might do it the day before like someone else suggested. My longest LP was 12 days I think (and test day/bday on FF is 12DPO ) so 11DPO wouldn't be too bad to test.

I would do it a day before. That way if you don't take a BFN well, you have 1 day to recoup and enjoy your birthday.

Sazz - I used to be that way and then the past two months I have been randomly emotional for no good reason. I am trying to revert back to my old self!

Same here. After 10 months it's getting a little harder. I have been a mess lately but I had to test for one of our trips and the drinking and having fund with family helped me not to be so sad. I think it can work if you use the time to celebrate something else and kind of forget about it. But if you can't do that then don't. No one wants to be sad on their birthday. GL!

i wouldn't be able to resist since it's the test date ff gives you but if you can, try to avoid it. bfns aren't that difficult for me but i know they are for a lot of people so if it will ruin your day then i say don't do it.

I am only on cycle 2 and may be able to test right around my birthday. On one hand, what an awesome BDay present a BFP would be. The other hand.. I don't want to remember my 25th bday starting out with a BFN.

I would wait until the day after.

I was affected more by my BFN this past weekend than I thought I would be, so that's my new theory. If it's an important day for one thing or another - don't test.

I am. I have been at it for 8 months now. So I figured if its a BFN...Ive felt worse in the past while TTC. My test date is actually around my birthday so I am really hoping for a birthday BFP. I am preparing for the worst and the best. Good luck!

I actually checked my b'day cycle to answer this one for you. Turns out I was only 7DPO on my birthday but I did test 5 days after. I think it depends on how you feel that day and how much a BFN affects you. I discovered this cycle that a BFN is better for me than thinking I'm going to get a BFP when I'm not.

I might be able to test on my b-day. It wouldn't bother me if it was a BFN because then I would be comfortable drinking. It will be CD 40 some odd so I might have already gotten a BFP?? Let's all cross our fingers that I don't have to test on my b-day because I've already gotten a BFP!!

We have been trying for 7 months and are just getting over a m/c. Do what you think is right but i know id never make it the whole day without p.o.a.s. Just think, it might be your month and what a great day to find out, if not its still a great day bc its your bday!.Just remember keep your head up. Theres a lot of us in the same boat as you. I'm late for this one but still wanted to respond. I'm cycle 20. I wouldn't unless I was in a very good spirit. Sometimes I am ok with a BFN as long as I can know early and get it over with. But if my spirit is down even after seeing the BFN I keep hope so it is worse. I don't test always only if I'm scheduling trip, party, etc. Good luck anyway! Hopefully this is it for you.
