Come on in and brag

I'm in a rotten mood and am trying to cheer myself up by focusing on the positives. Join me, won't you, and while you're at it go ahead and do some showing off. You can brag about yourself, about your kid(s), your DH, anything you want to.

My H still thinks I'm the hottest thing around, which is very flattering and helps a lot when I'm feeling cow-ish.

My child now says "please" and "thank you" without prompting. Sometimes. Which is a lot better than never.

My DH is a really good father. He's also amazing at his job. He's one of those rare professors who's good at both teaching and research. He's a regular Renaissance man, I tell you. He also got me my favorite dessert at the Korean market yesterday, which earned him some major brownie points.

I baked banana bread yesterday. I feel like Martha Stewart. Except hers would have probably had a little bow on top of it or something.

  • DS has started putting his own shoes on (and even on the right feet!). I never asked him to or tried to teach him, he just started doing it on his own.

  • See, now that's not nice. I already said I'm in a horrible mood and someone one-starred me. Give me some sympathy stars, someone!

  • DD's have recently started playing together somewhat instead of crying & screaming all day everyday over the same toys.  Really helps with the regret I felt at 'ruining' DD #1's life by having DD #2.

DH job is steady & flourishing despite being in the automotive industry.

My fall clothes from last year still fit.  That's the first time in a couple of years that my weight hasn't gone up over the summer.

Vacation for just DH and I is just over a month away.  Five whole days kid free, I get giddy just thinking about it!

  • DD#1 can mostly write her name.  Now she's working on her friend's names, MOM and DAD.  A week or two ago, she had no interest in it and couldn't grasp even the idea.  One of those jumps.  Love it.

DD#2 talks so well everyone can understand her.  She just told me that her baby, blanket and lovey are sitting on the floor...in those words.  She's doing so much better socially.  I just hope she does well at MDO this year.  She's always been a little withdrawn and shy.  Oh and she gives hugs and kisses in the cutest way and says "I love you, Mommy" at random times.  Totally makes my day.

DH is working late M-W this week so we can go away this weekend and so he can come to the girls' meet-the-teacher morning on Thursday.  If he works 10 hours M-W, he only has to go in for 2 hours on Thursday and then can take Friday for a vacation day.  He's trying to save vacation days but he knows I've been dying for a family vacation for ages - just the four of us.

Nothing special for me.  I'm behind on work, but meeting my commitments...just behind from what I usually do.  I've just been so tired lately and having dizzy spells.  Oh I guess I did make a rocking chicken and rice soup today at lunch.  It's way too hot for soup, but it was sooooooooo good (and relatively good for me).  But now I'm thinking of not cooking any dinner.

  • I made the BEST chocolate chip cookies today. My boys told meI should sell them in stores because they are so much better then the ones they sell.

  • I went to a bbq yesterday.  We had a little bake off, and I won.  I had a guy there ask me for one of my recipes because he liked it so much.

DD1 told me today that she loved me more than Yo Gabba Gabba, which for her, is saying A LOT.  She said we were best friends.

I'm spending $1100 today on my car, and I'm going to be thankful about it.  I'm thankful that my car has been paid off for years, and that we have the money to afford getting it fixed.  I'm also thankful that I don't have a car payment right now.

My H bought me my favorite bottle of wine last week.  He did so without my asking him to.

  • Sympathies stars coming your way.

Malia is the best thing that has ever happened to us.  We couldn't be more proud and she's only 2.5.  She's sleeping in her bed by herself now and tells us every night that she sleeps all by herself.  It's so stupid but I just wanted to crawl in bed and cuddle with her ... she's too little - she can't grow up yet!

  • Lawrence has the most ridiculous memory and sense of direction. We were heading somewhere the other day from a direction we don't usually come from. We were turning left and he said "No! Go to Nana's -- head right!"  He was absolutely correct.  He also can identify our new neighborhood and his best friend's house regardless of the direction we're approaching it from.  And, last week we said we were going to visit Grandpa and he evidently thought we meant my grandparents', who live on a farm, instead of H's parents who live in the opposite direction.  When we started heading there, he said "NO! Udder way -- I go to prapaw's big farm!"

I got to eat cheese for the first time in 8 months last night and DS2 didn't have an adverse reaction! I'm beyond excited!

People comment all the time on Law's awesome manners.  It makes me proud that "please" and "thank you" were among his first words and are still used most of the time.

My business seems to be taking off and I'm really stoked.

DS2 is such a sweet little guy, in spite of all his issues.  He loves to cuddle and is a huge flirt.

I love this. Now that's a huge compliment!

ami, I'm impressed that your DS can put his shoes on the right feet. A has no interest right now. I ask him to put on his underwear and he wants me to do it. *sigh*

And ciarrai, wow, the writing thing must be so cool to watch! My proudest moment as a teacher was one day when one of my really low-level kids wrote "dsptd" for disappointed. It was amazing he could figure out the letters to go with those sounds by himself. I'll never forget that.

neeser, I feel that way about DS, too. I can't imagine my life without him.

Jamaica, how awesome is that? That's another amazing compliment.

JessieD, congrats on still fitting in your clothes! I know you must be feeling awesome about that.

    Wow. That's impressive!

And yay for cheese. I actually used DS's milk in my cereal one day by mistake (that and the container for my soy milk were both red) and had no reaction to it, but I'm too afraid to try it again.

  • Femm-- DS isn't PT'd yet, so I don't have the underwear battle yet. However- the other day he saw me pulling my underwear up and said-"good job mommy went pee pee on the potty-you have a pull up on!" hahahahaa!!!! *slightly embarrassing* :)

Nesser-I couldn't agree more, I love that DS sleeps in his bed all night and goes to bed great. But I LOVE cuddling in there with him and holding him. Sometimes I still get to cuddle/rock him in the glider. :)

  • DD used the potty 2 times at daycare today!
  • Emilia just sucked the peanut butter out of her veggie cracker (hey that is what she wants) and then left it sitting on my lap.

She told me it was a present cause she "wuvs" me then she gave me a big sloppy peanut butter kiss.

Miles has been kissing EVERYTHING in site.. I fear for the general public. I may have to hide the Pucca DVDs. The pro is that he is extra kissy to me!

bring on the kisses, I say!

  • MH is amazing. He's a fantastic dad who cleans and is driven professionally. I really lucked out with him.

And, I have the cutest, smartest kids (In my totally biased opinion! ;-)?

  • DH is very helpful around the house.  Actually he has taken on a lot of chores as his normal responsibilities (laundry, dishes, trash, etc.).

I think I did better on the biochem test this morning than I thought I would although I don't know my score yet.

DS knows most U.S. states and a lot of the capitals.

DD's birthday is today!!  She's 3 years old and her teachers always talk about what a sweet little girl she is.

  • I just booked us a trip to San Diego for Labor Day weekend.  We had planned on staying at my SIL's house, but, I am allergic to cats and therefore we will be staying on the beach at The Catamaran Resort.  Darn.

I'm getting a one hour massage tonight with my favorite massage therapist when dh gets home.

Ds has been the best "sick" kid this weekend.  He has the chicken pox and you wouldn't know it if you couldn't see the pox themselves.

Dh is having a terrific month in the car business thanks to Cash for Clunkers.  Hope he remembers that my birthday is just around the corner and that a new purse would be a great gift.

  • My oldest has been reading since she was 3 years, 3 mos and she's getting really good at it.  Her manners have been awesome this week.  Today was her first day of her 2nd year of school AND she hasn't sucked her thumb since FRIDAY!!!

My youngest is starting to show signs she's ready for potty training!

After a 2 week break, I'm back on schedule at the gym!

That was nice cuz I always feel like you can really brag without a few people bringing you down!

  • My child just thanked him for giving him a suppository.  How is that for bragging?

  • I have never had to give him one before, but he hadn't pooed since Wednesday.   I stuck it in, and he looked at me and said "Thank you."   Ran off to play.

  • my twins started STTN at 8w... just like DS1 did- yippie!!

my DH is smart/kind enough to ask me if i want to go out by myself- since i have not left the house without a child with me since the twins were born.... not that i need his permission- but he realized it all on his own and asked me. (i have a girl's night planned tomorrow night- yay!)
