CDers come in, tips for reducing leaks?

Hello!  I just recently bought one-size pocket CDs and am having issues with DD leaking pee... any tips on reducing this?  CDs are on the smallest size available, but after I've changed her I'll nurse and slowly feel warmth spreading all over my lap... is there a trick to getting a tighter fit?  She's 12lbs 8 oz so not a tiny little thing...

Re: CDers come in, tips for reducing leaks?

  • Depends on what kind you are using.  Could be not enough prepping, bad fit, etc.  Are they all the same brand?

  • What kind of diapers are you using? How do you wash them?
  • DD uses BG 3.0 diapers.  I started her at 6 weeks and had huge leak issues.  I was using the NB insert but she needed the regular insert.  I find now (at 16 months) she only leaks if super wet or if her onesie gets between her diaper and leg pulling out the pee.

DS is not in CDs yet because he is so small and the BGs don't really fit until 10 lbs.

  • They are Babyland brand and it may be the inserts aren't big enough... I'm contemplating the ideas of buying prefolds to put in instead of what came with the diapers... But they are all Babyland brand.
  • Hemp inserts work REALLY well. Maybe you need to strip your CDs/inserts?
  • I've never heard of Babyland...where did you get them?

It could be a fit issue - some babies simply aren't compatible with some diapers. And sometimes, one-size don't fit really well until the baby is bigger than 12-15 lbs.

  • You didn't use fabric softener, did you?

  • No fabric softener, I hang to dry.  They are brand new though, maybe a few washings would help?
  • Mine are much more absorbant now that they have been washed quite a few times.  It also seems to help that I hang them in the sun to dry, but I'm not sure if that is just all in my head.  We have never really had leak issues, but we have always used hemp which I hear is more absorbant.  I don't have any experience with Babyland, but I have had good luck with Crickett's fitteds and Thirsties covers.  Maybe its just that the brand is not right for you?
