Hi there. I figured I?d jump on the bandwagon and de-lurk as well. DH and I are looking into domestic adoption and are going to our first agency info session this Saturday. After almost 4 years, 3 failed IUI?s and 3 failed IVF?s w/ ICSI, we just want to be parents.
We live in MA and are just starting the process so any info you ladies can provide is welcome! I?ve read the Idiot?s Guide, should I pick up Adoption for Dummies as well or is it pretty much the same info? Also, any thoughts on Adoptive Families magazine? I am anxiously awaiting my first issue.
Thanks!
Re: And Yet Another Hello...
It is a great magazine.
Welcome!
welcome!
This is a great board and you will end up with lots of information.
Good luck in your journey.
Hi, and welcome.
I've only read the Idiot's Guide, so I can't tell you for certain that Dummies would be duplicated, but my impression is that reading only one of them if fine. If you really want more to delve into, I'd suggest books that focus more specifically on parenting adopted children at this point.
Welcome.
I tink you're covered with the Idiot's Guide to Adoption. Most people here have either read one or the other.
I have heard good things about AF magazine, and got a free copy the last time we visited our agency. I subscribed, and am anxiously awaiting my first issue
Thanks, all!
CaptainSerious, any recs offhand? I've read Secret Thoughts of an Adoptive Mother and have started 20 Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents knew. I've been flipping back and forth from the Nest to Amazon all afternoon.
Check out the link in my sig. These are many of the books that have been recommended on this board at one time or another.

Hello and welcome. Your story sounds almost identical to ours--3 failed IUI's, 2 FET, 2 miscarriages. You've come to the right place if you want questions answered.
BTW, I love Adoptive Families Magazine! I read every word of it. I just hate that it only comes out every other month.
