What do your LOs wear at DC?

I think this has been asked before, but what do you send your LO in when they go to DC?  Do you send them in onsies, dresses, cute outfits?  TIA

Re: What do your LOs wear at DC?

  • Comfort is key. Onsies, soft pants and socks were pretty much standard for me. No shoes until they could pull up and move.

  • When DD was younger, I mostly sent her in sleepers. She started DC at 9 weeks old and it was October. So for quite a few months, that is what she wore. Sometimes I would send her in an outfit if I felt like changing it up. As she got older and more mobile, I sent her in more two piece outfits. Now that it is summer, we do either one of those rompers (a bit more dressy than a onsie) or a top/onsie and shorts. I rarely send her in a dress now that she is mobile - they seem to get in her way.

  • DD is 21 months.  I've sent her in dresses a few times and only recently.  Comfort is key.  They go out on the playground 2x a day and the only shoes she'll wear is her Crocs.

Until her summer "wadrobe"  I did have a silly notion of good clothes and daycare clothes.  I soon realized that she outgrows her clothes so fast, she just needs to wear them all.  So now ALL clothes are fair game.  She's usually in some type of t-shirt/tank top and a pair of shorts for the summer.

  • We go for comfort, ease of removal, and washability.  I don't send my children to school in anything that I can't picture with a huge stain across the front.  Because that is usually how they end up.  I don't worry about cute outfits, because who is going to see them?  I don't think the other babies in my son's infant room really care if he has on a rockin' shirt or anything.

I do have clothing that is off-limits for school because we go to church and I like to dress them up a bit for that.

When DD was an infant her teachers actually thanked me for sending her in one-piece outfits that were simple.  They have several babies to take care of, so the less time they have to take fidgeting with a button, strap, or flouncy dress, the better.

  • Ditto pp -- comfort is key.  DS usually goes in a onesie and pants and socks.  DD I can actually put in dresses if warm because she won't trip over them running around now but normally I try and keep her in comfy shorts and top or pants and top because she is running around on the playground.

  • she wears the same clothes at daycare as she does at home.  Mostly one piece rompers or onesie/pants combos.  Rarely she'll wear dresses or shirts and pants, but mostly because I tend to not buy clothes if they don't snap in the crotch because she would suck on the hem of the shirt or dress all day if she can get it in her mouth.

  • She wears a onesie with pants or shorts or a dress with bloomers. I won't buy anything that isn't easy for me to get on/off bc I like simple. So her dresses are the Carters cotton ones. We have a TON of clothes from the shower that is just fitting now.

  • I sent him in those sleep and play things for a loooong time, until he got too wriggly during changes to get him buttoned up.  Then onesies, pants, and socks, mostly.  I didn't send him in shoes consistently until he started going to the toddler room and going outside more.  Now he wears either t-shirt and shorts or t-shirt and pants almost every day.  He comes home dirty most days, so I wouldn't dare put him in something nice!

  • I was sending her in clothes I didn't care much about, but then I started to realize that she never wore any of her cuter outfits.  So now I will send her in whatever I choose that day.  It is rare that she makes it through the day in the same outfit (she is a messy little girl), but I figure, you have to just let the kids wear their clothes and relax a little.

  • When I'm dressing her or DH?  :)  DH will send her in the onesie she wore for pajamas unless I catch him before he leaves and put her in something else!

But ditto on everyone else-- we try to send comfy clothes, but I also put her in dresses or whatever since most were gifts and she'll never wear them otherwise. They usually change her at least once at daycare anyway.

  • Onsies mostly.  It's hot here!
