Trying to Get Pregnant

Lurker with a question

Hey, girls.  I've been lurking for a while and I have a question.  The 1st day of my last period was July 16, according to FF, I O'd at cycle day 18, and I got a positive pregnancy test last Thursday.  I'm paranoid and have been checking my temps periodically since then and here's my question...temps should remain up indefinately during pregnancy, right?  This morning there was a pretty significant drop in my temp and now I'm worried.  Just wanted to get some advice.  I got to the doctor Thursday but it's just for paperwork, medical history, blood typing, etc....no 'real' doctors appt. until 10 or 11 weeks.  Thanks a bunch!

  • I would stop temping during pregnancy as temperatures can fluctuate and you will freak yourself out for no reason.

  • Step away from the BBT! It will drive you batty if you continue to temp. They flucuate quite a bit during pregnancy.

  • Congratulations on your pregnancy! Don't temp after your BFP. It will drive you nuts.

  • Stop temping.  Your temps will be all over the place once you are KU.  The 1st trimester board can probably give you better advice at this point though, since they are all pregnant.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • With my first, I stopped temping for this very reason - too stressful.  While I don't have any hard and fast evidence that one temp drop isn't a big deal, I do know that when I tested with my son, the morning I woke up there was a HUGE temp drop.  I thought, "no way am I pregnant" and was totally expecting a negative HPT, but it wasn't.  The moral?  You can never tell what's going on with things based on one temperature.  Try not to worry yourself too much; stress isn't a good thing when you're pregnant.
  • You may find more people with answers on first tri, most there are actually KU.

  • Thanks for the responses.  I'll step away from the BBT and stop worrying!  Hope ya'll have a good day!
  • This is what I was told after getting my BFP with DS when I asked this question:  Tell your husband to take your BBT and hide it from you.  Taking your temperature now will only stress you and freak you out.  HTH
