if you had pre-labor contractions

I've been having BH contractions for weeks now, but started having more intense (what my nurse called "real" contractions) last Thursday. They're not what I'd call painful, but the tightening has increased and they feel crampy.  Sometimes I have them regularly for a while, then I won't have one for an hour, then regularly again. But they're with me just about all the time now and it's starting to really try my patience that I'm not progressing. I think I'd still be fine with Henry staying put for a a few more days except that these contractions are driving me crazy.

So if you had something like this I'm just wondering how long it went on before true labor started.

    I am so right there with you!  I don't have anything that "gets more intense".  I had contractions for a strong hour that were definitely real.  I remember the pain from last year, but then they went away.  Other than that, it has been sporadic. 

    I have an OB appointment today.  I have been 4cm for a week!  UGH!

    Mine lasted for 3 long days, they would be regular and timeable for a few hours then stop and start up again.  It was extraordinarly frustrating especially considering that they happened mostly at night which of course kept me up.

    I can't offer any help...I just had to say I can't believe you're 6 days away from your due date! I feel like your pregnancy flew by.

    I keep having similar type contractions too. A couple of times I thought maybe it was the real deal. I have another check today too. I'm really hoping for some progress this week.  Course...my OB is out on vacation this week, so holding out another week would be better.

    The same thing happened to me 1 week before I went into labor.  I'd been having regular BH contrax and then one day they picked up and I thought for sure it was the real thing, but they eventually subsided.  I even went in and elected to have an internal (the midwives will only do one if you request it) - I couldn't help myself and wanted to know what to expect, especially since it was Friday.  I was a fingertip dilated and 50%(?) effaced.  One week later my water broke and I was in labor (had barely progressed since the week before, though!)
    Childhood cancer (DH) + chemo + radiation = 0 sperm.
    LO #1 - 1 unmedicated/self-monitored IUI w/ donor sperm.
    LO #2 - 1 m/c, 2 BFNs, 4th IUI worked (unmedicated/self-monitored with new donor sperm).
    Life is beautiful!

    I'm no help as I don't think I felt a single contraction. . . but wanted to tell you that I am so excited that you are 39 weeks and 1 day pregnant!!!!  Henry will be here SOON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
