Do you have a 2 story house?

We are looking into buying a 2 story house but am kind of worried about DS when he starts crawling/walking and the stairs. This home also has a balcony overlooking the living room. Have you ever had any incidents or am I being silly? We have a single level now, so no worries in that area!

  • I wouldn't worry about it. Granted, it will take a while before your LO can go down the stairs but I would just have gates installed at the top and bottom of the stairs. FWIW, we don't have gates yet, we just keep DS away from the stairs, which is easy for now even though he craws everywhere. We may install them when he learns to actually walk.

  • We live in a 2 story townhouse. We have a baby gate between the living/dining room and kitchen and one upstairs in the hallway. Their has been a couple falls between the two kids, but nothing more than 1-2 steps and no injuries. They learn pretty quickly to stay off the stairs.

  • We live in a two story home and I would never get another one, not because of the kids because of the STAIRS. The laundry is in the basement and it is a PITA to take all the laundry up and down two flights of stairs. I also HATE vacuuming stairs. Those are my reasons. =)
  • You just get a baby gate....and when the time comes teach lo how to go up and come down the stairs correctly....but baby gate it ;)
  • This is the whole point of baby gates!

  • I love my 2 storey home. I don't even mind vacumming the stairs! lol.

But my laundry isn't in the basement, it's on the main floor and I agree with the previous poster that basement laundrys are a PITA and wouldnt ever have one again.

But the stairs as an issue for C... nope. We have a split set and there are just  2 stairs leading up to the bedrooms from the bonus room and he already knows how to get up those and knows not to try and get down them unless I am there.
