Baby Names

Jackson

How popular is this name? Should I even care? This has ALWAYS been my favorite name for a boy, ever since I saw Steel Magnolias. WDYT?

Re: Jackson

  • Ridiculously popular. Plus with Michael Jackson passing, I think fans might be inclined to use it. I don't care for it anyways because it's really trendy.

  • I wouldn't use it because of Michael Jackson.

    Yesssssssssssss.

I liked it a while ago because of Jackson Pollock... I didn't even care that he was an alcoholic. But now, I wouldn't touch it.

  • There is one Jackson (actually spelled Jaxon) in my nephew's circle of friends, but just from this board I can see it is already very popular.  I personally wouldn't use it because it is so popular, but if you love it - and you HAVE loved it, then go with it!
  • I honestly don't think it is as popular as others. I would use it! very cute!

  • Annoyingly popular in my opinion. Like ridiculously insanely annoyingly popular

Especially when you factor in all the Jax, Jack's, Jaxon's and Jaxen's (ect)

This exactly. Even if it's not popular in a particular area, I still think it has a trendy ring to it.

  • I know 3 Jacksons/Jaxons under 3.  And I don't know many kids.  It's super popular right now.
  • Love it. And IMO, no, you shouldn't care. People tend to forget that there's a PERSON attached to the name. A name can be trashy, trendy, classic, popular, [enter any adjective used on this board here], and once your baby arrives, none of that matters. The individual really brings the meaning to the name. So despite it's popularity, if you love it, and especially because you always have, go for it!!

  • I am a NICU nurse and have seen about 10 babies named Jackson/Jaxon in the past year. I have to agree with the likelyhood that it will be used more with Michael Jackson passing away. Though I think that if you really love it you should use it.
  • I love this name and think you should use it if its what you always wanted.....but I dont get so hung up on the anti-popularity kick. :)

I definitely like it better than Jaxon though. ;) I know SEVERAL Jaxons.

  • my 25 yer old brother is "Jackson" (it's my mom's maiden name) and he's always been the only one around here. He always went by Jack as a kid, but he's trying to get people to call him Jackson now. It's a good solid name! :)
  • I love the name... my friend just had a baby and that's what they named him, but they spelled it Jaxen.  I think it's a great name.
