I have not been very regular since I got pregnant...but now it is getting even harder (no pun intended) Today I had to strain a bit and had some bleeding (rectal) Is this ok? I am afraid the straining will do something to baby...I know, I sound like a nut...
I was told at my last appointment NOT to strain cuz it could induce some pre-term labor. Make an appointment to get a stool softner or simply incorporate more fiber in ur meals. Cucumbers have lots and there tasty too with like limes juice or other fruits. My midiwfe also said not to try any OTC laxatives.
The straining won't hurt your baby so don't worry. However, you can get hemrroids so I would recommend contacting your doctor (if they didn't already give you a list of medicines you can take) to see what you can take to ease the problem. I take Collace every day and every now and then I take Miralax to help out when it's been a few days in between bowel movements. Good luck and try not to worry!
It wont harm the baby. But if you push too hard you might end up with a nice hemorrhoid. The bleeding is a sign that you've become strained. Eat some fiber. Most supermarkets sell coconut water. Try to gulp 2 cans of those. It usually cleans me right out.
I have been experiencing some of this lately too! I have found that, if I am feeling a little constipated, I will drink some coffee. That usually helps A LOT. Or, you could try eating prunes... I prefer raisinets. (:
Don't strain too much, even though I know it's uncomfortable to feel like you gotta goooo. You probably have a hemroid and that's what is causing the bleeding. If it is a lot of bleeding (more than a couple drops), I would call your doctor.
BEEN THERE, BUT AFTER I HAD MY SON & WAS BLESSED WITH HEMORRHOIDS. ALL I ATE WAS FRUIT, VEGGIES & WASHED MY STOOL SOFTENER DOWN WITH PLENTY OF WATER. LOL
OK I RECC PLENTY OF WATER, PRUNES, FRUIT & VEGGIES. AND DON'T STRAIN. IF YOU DON'T FEEL IT COMING OUT, DON'T FORCE IT.
I had this problem and I agree that straining = hemorrhoids. Drink more water and fiber. My doctor said add Colace to soften the stool. I avoided that and started eating chili all the time - helps.

I have heard the cooking with coconut oil instead of veggie oil or the like also helps some people out. ?I've also heard that coconut oil is much better for you (and it doesn't have a bad taste)!?
