Baby Names

Anybody up?

We have decided on a first name, but can't pick a middle name...

First name is Elvia, last name Martinez (I figure this last name is so popular that it doesn't matter if I share it.. haha).

My husband likes the mn Valentine.  Any ideas?  What do you think of the combo?

Re: Anybody up?

  • Not crazy about Elvia (sorry) it sounds like Elvira to me.... I love Valentine though :)

  • I think Valentine is a great middle name. I also like the name Valentina for a first name with your last name- esp because I'm not crazy about your first name (but realize that's not what you were asking)
  • I don't love Elvia, reminds me of "elfy" but anyway I really like Valentine, more so Valentina. I don't like it with Elvia, because I feel like the stress is on the "Vi" in Elvia, so to start with another "V" sound doesn't flow for me. I grew up as a Natalie Lynn and never thought it flowed properly.
  • Im going to join the rest of the ladies....Elvia No most people will not pronounce it right and will call her el-veye-a. I do love Valentine or Valentina.
  • Oh the opinions people give.  This is part of the reason why we're not sharing the name until my little girl is out of me.  If you like Elivia, use it!  I do not however like Valentine with it...something about the 2 Vs being so close together.  But like I said before, if you like it, use it!
  • Since you asked, I don't like the name, but it's not my kid so who cares what I think :)
  • I know you weren't asking for opinions on the first name, but I don't like Elvia at all.  I do like Valentine for a middle name though.
