2 bassinets vs. 1 pack n play

We're having twins in December - boy and girl. What is the difference in having 2 bassinets or 1 large pack n play that has all the same features as a bassinet (vibration, sound, night light). I know for sure I want to pack n play, do I really need 2 bassinets as well? Thanks for the help!

We just did the pack n play. Worked out great for us.

  • I don't have my babies yet, but we will be getting 1 pack-n-play. The pack-n-play can be folded and is portable so we can bring it when staying in a hotel, visiting family, etc. The maximum weight limit is 30lbs. The babies will outgrow the bassinet much sooner.
  • We never had bassinets, just PNPs.  Our PNPs are just the regular, basic models with the bassinet features.  That's it, and we never needed all the extra stuff on some of the more expensive models.

They both shared one PNP bassinet in our room for the first month until we moved them into their own room.  The way I see it, a bassinet can only be used until they are so big, then it's useless.  You can use a PNP (two when they get bigger) until they are out of the crib.  We use them when we go see our families since we're usually there for several days, and we can continue to do this until they are old enough for regular beds.

  • we're doing the PNP.  I think bassinets are a waste of $ and space.
  • I would get a PnP (or an Arm's Reach Original Co-sleeper) since it is a lot more versatile. If you still want to keep them in your room after they outgrow the 15-lb weight limit for the bassinet part (which our boys would have outgrown in combined weight by about 3 weeks old!), you could either move them to the bottom level of the PnP, or get a second PnP then.

  • We just used the PNP for our twins.

We have one in bedroom that they slept in for 12 weeks together in the basinette portion.  We have the Graco Deco ones.  We also have one downstairs which we use for naps and a diaper changing table.

We never used any of the features w/the PNP (light/sounds/vibrating).

  • We just used a pack and play, and never felt the need for anything else. Once they were 8 weeks old, I started putting them in the cribs for naps and stopped using the pack and play all the time. This is when they started to accidentally hit each other while sharing the pack and play, so I knew it was time to start putting them in their cribs to sleep at all times.

  • For those of you who use the pnp.....do you have the Graco Playard with Twins Bassinet or just a regular pnp?
  • We're doing the PNP. Hopefully it'll work out!
  • My girls were together in the pack n play for naps until around 5 months and in their crib together for 7 months.  Totally don't need two bassinets.

  • I am actually getting 2 PNP, one for upstairs and one for down. The upstairs one will double as their bassinet, and the downstairs will be good for naps and we will probably use the changing table feature as well. I registered for two in the elyse pattern at BRU, as you can see, I too am having b/g twins.

  • We got the arms reach co-sleeper and are also planning to get two pack n plays. ?One for when they are little and I plan to set it up in the living room for changes, naps, etc. ?The arms reach co-sleeper is for our room. ?I want two PnPlay's beacuse when they are bigger and we travel we will need two. ?For the person who asked about the twin pnp, the feedback is not good for twins and not worth it. ?It seems better to use the regular ones.?
  • I am expecting b/g twins and we got a pack and play for them to share.
