I was able to see my RE this morning (adore her, btw) and she confirmed that the balloon is still in my ute and she re-tucked the tubing back up in my vag, where a tampon would go. She even had me look at everything in a mirror so I could see what's going on. The RE Fellow I spoke to yesterday was confused in telling my the balloon had come out if I was seeing 6" of tubing. The RE today told me I have a pediatric catheter balloon with a longer tail instead of a "normal" short tail balloon (since I haven't given birth vaginally, the "normal" balloon wouldn't work with my ute & cervix).
Anyway, all is good in my nether region; balloon is doing its job and I haven't been exposed to infection with the dangling tubing (but I'm still taking antibiotics).

I think the fellowship comes after the residency; the fellowship is usually a year or so of specialization. So this guy is training to become an RE after his OB/GYN residency.
He was giving me good advice based on the assumption that I had a "normal" balloon...at the time, neither of us knew that I had the pediatric kind, thus his confusing advice.
