Capital Women's Care- Bel Air

Hi Ladies,

I am new to the posting, and just found out that we will be expecting our first baby on April 2nd. I am a little over 4 weeks along, and I was curious to see if any of you have experience with Capital Women's Care in Bel Air. I have been going to CWC for GYN check ups for the last 3 years and have been happy with them, but I was curious to see how they handled their OB patients.

I was concerned because when I called to schedule my first round of appointments, they made no mention of prenatal vitamins, and were quick to rush me off the phone. They scheduled my first sonogram at 7 weeks, which will be August 17th. I picked up an over the counter prenatal until I have my first appointment.  Perhaps it was just a busy day? It just has me a bit nervous, and I was curious to see if anyone has used this practice. Thank you!

Re: Capital Women's Care- Bel Air

  • I go to CWC in Towson, but the docs are the same as in the Bel Air office.  I've actually been with the practice since well before it was CWC, and both offices were part of it back then.  I really love the docs in this practice, and the one time I have gone to the Bel Air office I actually thought it was a bit nicer than the Towson one (smaller, and more personal).  The scheduler didn't impress me though, she was kind of short and not so personable, so maybe that's who you dealt with (as opposed to the nurses, who were great).  Everyone else I've dealt with in 15+ years with the practice have been great.

  • Hey Congrats! Don't worry at all. You made a great choice. I had a similar experience with CWC when I first got pregnant. And it is so nerve wracking to wait for the first appointment. But they'll discuss everything you need to know then, vitamins and all. The doctors and midwife are all wonderful people. You have to meet with all of them at least once. Everyone has their favorites, but I really did like them all. I highly recommend.
  • Thanks so much! I feel better hearing that you both have had a positive experience. Now if only August 17th would get here already!!!

  • I live in Bel air and I go to Dr. Chanan Levy and Dr. Shari Sopher in Bel Air off of Rte. 924 I love them!
  • I go to CWC in Towson and I don't like them, at all. No one ever explains anything to me (appt schedule),  prenatals STILL have never been discussed (I researched them on my own) , I do not like Dr. Facciola because she is very cold and I don't like that, they rush me through my appts and most of the time my questions are not answered. I know they are busy and that they deal with pregnant women every day but I am a first timer and this is all new to me.

For baby #2, I will either have a midwife (so I can actually get some attention) or go to a one doctor practice. I do not like not knowing who will show up at my son's delivery.

Not at all happy with my experience but at 26 weeks, it is too late now to start a new search.

Good Luck and I hope your experience is better.

  • It's prob the front desk gal.  She's not the nicest but evertone else is.  I like everyone else.  They are great about returning messages and in my experience take all the time you need to discuss things.  You prob didn't get any info when you made your appt bc you talked to the receptionist rather than a nurse or doc.  Dr. Duke is my fave, but they are all great.  You have younger and older docs there so you have the youthfulness yet those with more experience.  Bel Air is def better bc it's smaller but you will need to go to Towson for the big u/s appts and things.  I don't think you'll be disappointed.
  • Thank you! We had our first u/s last week. Everything went well, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it was just a front desk issue, and that it will be smooth sailing from now on! Thanks for the feedback.
