Babies: 0 - 3 Months

EBF working moms of 4 month olds

How often do you pump at work? And how many ounces do you get each time? And how many oz does DC eat with each bottle?

I pump 3 times/day. (10, 1, and 4). I usually get about 5-6 oz each time. DD usually drinks 6 oz with each bottle, but will occasionally drink 7-7 1/2.

I'm debating on whether I should keep making 6 oz bottles or if I should bump it up to 7. TIA!

Re: EBF working moms of 4 month olds

  • My LO is 3 1/2 months and I have only been back to work for two weeks so I am seeing what works.

My plan most day is to pump at 8, 11, and 3 (my supply is higher in the morning, which is why I pump more).  I nurse at about 6:30, get 8-10 oz at 8 when I pump, and about 6 oz at 11 and 3.

My LO is only eating 4 oz at a time at best though.  I am still trying to determine if he is "holding out" for me though.  I always have left over BM that I freeze so far (about 20 oz a week) and I am not trying to pump extra for him.

  • I pump 4 times a day.

8:30am- 10-12 oz total (5-6 ounces per side)
    10:30am- 2-5 oz total
    12:30pm- 2-5 oz total
    3:30pm- 3-5 oz total

My DS eats about a total of 18 ounces a day.

  • Your LO is probably ok w/ 6 oz.  my LO only takes 5.5 oz in each bottle but he is on the small side.  I pump 3 times at 8:30, 11:30 and 2:30 and get between 13-16oz.  most days I need to supplement w/ my freezer stash.  GL
