Nephew goes to school with a girl who is pregnant...

and she's TWELVE. Yes, twelve years old. Ugh.

And I'm just gonna say it...I blame the parents. 15, 16, 17...I don't jump to blame parents. Twelve? I absolutely do. A twelve  year old girl shouldn't even have the oppurtunity to be alone with a boy...let alone have sex. I'm sick over it. It did, however, give us the oppurtunity to tell our nephew that this is exactly why we have rules and opened the door for yet another "talk" (we are very open with him about this stuff).

God...couldn't even imagine doing this mom/pregnancy thing at twelve. Such a shame.

    That is horrible!  I agree with you completely- a 12 year old shouldn't be allowed to be alone with a boy at all.

    I remember when I was twelve my boyfriend came over and my friend "dared" him to hold my hand so he did.  I was so embarrassed!

    I was alone with boys when I was twelve... but definitey NEVER boys who were older, and never in a house where parents weren't present.

    I do blame parents, TOTALLY.  12 years old is still a definite child.  Not even in high school yet!!!  Parents need to talk to their kids, AND have rules and boundaries.  Jeeeez.

    I completely agree. 12 is way too young to be able to be in a situation where this could happen. I wasn't allowed out with a boy until I was 16. And even then, my parents prefered group dates. I of course could sneak and do what I wanted, but I was so fearful of them finding out that I never really did. Plus, why would I want to? I was 16, and going out with a group was way more fun!

    This reminds me of a time at a bar when I was talking to a guy who has an 8 year old daughter. He was bragging about how he got her a Blackberry and ipod. I was like, A BLACKBERRY???!!!!!! wtf does an 8 year old need a blackberry for???? i didn't get a cell phone until I was 20! Who knows what this 8 year old could do with internet access, a phone, and email on her phone. It makes me so sad that he was basically telling her to go out and get into trouble. ?

    This is exactly how I was! My parents would have NEVER let me be alone with a boy at that age.

    I was thinking about that, too.  There's always more to a story like this.

    I also work in social services, and this was exactly what I was thinking.

    Twelve is what- 7th grade? Geesh! This could be the product of an assault or abuse or an older boy taking advantage. Poor thing.

    This is incredibly scary. My little sister is 12 and I can't even imagine her pg! She is still a little girl! What a terrible example of poor parents...

    That's so sad, shes still a baby!  My aunt works at an elementary school and there is a 14 yr old 8th grader who is pregnant with her second. 

    At 12 i had my first boyfriend.  He asked my parents if he could be my boyfriend and they told him no, i was too young for that.  So we tried to hide it.  He kissed me once and i ran away.  That was the end of our relationship.
