Parenting after a Loss

?? For those whose LO refused bottles...

Taylor is still having issues taking bottles for my mom. We have tried ALL the tricks, talked to lactation consultants, and her pedi and nothing is working. What happened with your LO? Did they eventually take it? I am back at work and my mom who is taking care of her is trying her best t no avail. Any one have any suggestions?

  • We didn't have a lot of luck with bottles. We finally gave up and moved on to sippy cups, but she was older than Taylor. She was about 6 months old at that point.

  • For K we just had to put it aside if he wouldn't take it and try it again later. ?When he was hungry enough he guzzled it down no problem, but if he wasn't hungry enough you would swear that he was incapable (choking, fussing, refusing the bottle).

  • I'm assuming you've tried different bottles? ?DS struggled with bottles until I tried one that has more of a "natural" nipple - i.e. one that was more similar to the breast. ?He hated Dr. Brown's but loves the playtex drop-ins. ?

  • Hey! DD still doesn't love the bottle and it's my 3rd week back at work. the most she'll choke down is 3 oz...she sleeps a lot at daycare. We've tried stuff too but she is just stubborn..she plays with the nipples and doesn't suck much. I've talked to a couple people and they said their babies never really took to a bottle well. They reverse cycled and then just started a sippy cup sooner.  I wish DD would take more during the day, but I guess I will just enjoy the extra cuddle time I get with her since I don't get to be with her during the day. GL, hope she takes to it better soon!
