Someone enlighten me on compression hoes....

So I am in desperate need of compression socks/hoes. Does anyone have a pair that they really like and work well? I just read an article that says they need to be Panty hoes but I was really hoping for knee highs. Also what compression should a pregnant woman use?

  • I'm so sorry I don't know the answer to your question but I think you mean HOSE not HOES... I don't mean to laugh at your mistake (goodness knows I make enough of them), but you just made my day :)  Good luck with your question!!

    I thought that too...  :)

  • I only wore mine when I was working, but mine are sigvaris, and they are medical grade compression at 15-20 mmHg  and I had two pairs that were 30-40 mmHg for the sigvaris you need a drs prescription but most drs will obviously write one out for you.. I should mention the 30-40 I wore when I was flying

  • I wear knee high compression socks.  I had them already because I had a blood clot in my leg years ago, but they are definitely keeping the swelling down during pregnancy.  I order from www.compressionstore.com. Check with your doctor on how much compression you need because you don't want to overdo it and compromise your circulation. I have the "moderate" compression ones, but you probably only need mild.  (My clot caused some damage to the veins in my legs, so I need a little more).

  • i wore them during the entire second half of my pregnancy. I just got the knee highs b/c they made me very hot! i got them from a local home medical store. they even told me that insurance can cover them sometimes if your dr writes a prescription. I cant say for sure if they helped alleviate swelling, b/c i was still very very swollen all over, but it did help with some of the pain associated with the swelling in my legs/feet.

  • I haven't used them for pregnancy, but used them all the time for muscle recovery when I was ironman training last year. They were a lifesaver. I ran a marathon really under trained last fall, and my calves were the only thing that weren't sore afterwards because of the compression socks. My favorite are the 2XU brand. They are calve 'sleeves', so you don't have to worry about socks falling down and having to wash them as often. Most running or tri stores/websites have them. Also, they're great to use after pregnancy for exercise recovery.

This! LMBO! And I know they are basically supossed to help with the swelling by preventing some blood flow but I haven't had to use them yet so I'm not much help.
